Thanks!
I did some more looking last night and my drivers side mirror is loose because 1 of the nuts holding the bracket on is loose, so a replacement rivet nut should fix the problem!
My passenger side has one rivet head popped off and needs to be replaced. Again, a rivet nut should work...
Hi all,
My 77 has the factory installed body colored sport mirrors. Unfortunately, the rivets holding the mounting plates on have both cracked and the mounting plates are very loose now. This causes the mirror to wobble at the base and I'm worried they'll fall off and crack.
I've looked...
I would be very leary of AstroTops. I purchased a 1 piece top from them and the fitment and adjustability is very poor. The rear latching "blocks" do not hold the top down very firmly and the top bows in the middle. It is very obvious that the plastic was not cut properly yet customer service...
Thanks 1bad80! I'm going to go have a look through the Edelbrock site. I didn't know if it was a lean condition or rich condition that caused the backfire through the carb. Is is also possible that I have too much timing coming in early with the very soft springs in the distributor?
Thanks...
Hello again all,
Well it's nice weather and I've got the 77 out on the road more and more. I have noticed a problem though. I've got an edelbrock 600cfm egr carb with electronic choke, and I'll usually let the car warm up for quite a while before I drive. Anyhow, once I'm driving, any time...
I hear ya! :) I wish I could tell you the answer. I'm sure by this evening someone will chime in with an answer (69myway). Whatever you decide to get, definitely check out tirerack.com. They have some awesome prices.

Just guessin' here, but I'd bet he's going for traction at take off only. Probably not looking to increase handling :) And more area means more static and dynamic friction to overcome (i.e. more stickum).

Well,
Considering the stock calipers are 4 PISTON CALIPERS , I would recommend sticking with replacement style calipers. My personal preference would be O-ring calipers from vettebrakes.com They are relatively inexpensive and the kit comes with everything you need. There is no need to switch...
Yeah, I love the t/a so far. It is a ton of fun to drive!
Bob,
You might want to check the starter solenoid on the legend. When those things start to go bad they are very intermitent. Just a guess.
I'll definitely be keeping in touch. I still visit the CAC regularly, although not as much...
Bob,
Yeah, I finally got it fixed, sort of. The reason it wouldn't unlock was because of excessive dirt and grime build up in the inner mechanism. To fix it I sprayed a ton of wd-40 and degreaser into the mechanism. Eventually I worked all of the crap out and the lock mechanism worked...
Yup,
The flex fan is quite a bit more noisy, but it works. I bought a flex-lite fan from Oreilly's. You'll also need the adapter kit to keep the correct spacing. The folks at Oreilly's should know exactly what you need. Expect somewhere around $40 I think.

I would do the following:
1) Hooker sidepipe setup with JCL baffles. Looks sweet and sounds even better.
or
2) tri-Y headers (I think Borla makes them) to a 3" X-pipe and true duals with 3" flowmaster delta 50 series. If you lookup bobchad, he has a similar setup and the car sounds mean...
Yeah,
It's a pricey unit but you are able to retain your stock tranny.
Just figured I'd throw the option out there since it is less expensive. (maybe you wouldn't have to donate both kidneys :))
