With a little TLC and a few oil changes the GM Small block rules! Consider all the high tech OHV/OHC engines, Turbo engine on the market but the ol' pushrod 2V American V8 will go forever!
I live in NYS and the undercarriage of my '90 is nowhere near that rusty. It looks like it saw some harsh weather. Here salt is used on the roads thru-out the winter and in Spring the roads are white with salt residue. I always wait until the first heavy rainstorm to take out my Vette so the...
I also have the Wolf cover. The only thing is that it seemed to tear easily. I caught it in the window when I closed the door and got a nice 3 corner-grrh!
spoiling for spoilers
The only car with a spoiler that looked good was the recently departed Camaro (last body style) that had it integrated into the lines of the car.
I've seen C4s with spoilers and to my eye it destroys the lines of a good looking car.
However, nothing is as bad as the...
Two thoughts:
1. check the clutch master cylinder for proper fluid level
2. it may be time to change the tranny oil
Bad clutch would be slippage under power, you would feel it on acceleration
also, check the obvious, the release ring on the shifter. my 90 has one and I need to make sure...
Luckily, I happened to fill up just before the big jump :J. Premium is within spittin' distance of $4 per gallon. I am still going to cut back tho. I may even put it up for winter a month early if fuel doesn't come back down to pre-panic levels.
At least I can still wax it and look longingly...
For a car like the C4, a stick is the only way to go, adds miles to the fun. Everyone I know who doesn't own a vette concentrates on speed, but there is nothing like going thru the twisties :D using both feet and both hands (shifting & steering).
When you learn stick, be prepared for a lot of...
'90 Vette
I've got a 90 coupe, 6 speed and I think that's a good choice.
I love mine and its new enough for some goodies but still has the round taillights, C4 styling/handling and I CAN AFFORD IT, something I can't do with a newer car.
Prices are going to vary, but beware of really low...
Does your clutch M/C lose fluid?
My 90 seems to yet I can't find any obvious leak. I have the rubber filler also and it seems to take very little fluid in the bowl. When I woke it up from its winter sleep, I had a problem getting it into gear. After some yelling, I checked the M/C and found...
My .$02
I had State Farm for 25 years, originally purchasing them based on Consumer Reports recommendation (another long story)
During that time, I had only two minor claims (yes, only 2) and always paid my bills on time. I had the same agent for that entire period.
lo and behold, I had a...
90 Abs
Shortly after I got mine, the ABS module failed. The GM part new was real pricey, 0ver $1000. I had it replaced with a NAPA part that was about 60% of that price. Its worked fine since then.
Good luck. Make sure you replace the brake fluid regularly also just as a precaution...
Interesting topic. I've noticed that other drivers sometimes act really "jerky" even more than normal when I'm in the Vette. They tailgate, want to race, pass when its not necessary, try to come too close and other behaviors.
We all know about some of the lunkheads out there but it seems that...
Here in CNY, Sunoco has been selling 91 octance in lieu of 94 for a few months now, generally for a couple of cents less than current 93 octane prices. I have used 91 in my L98 with no seeming difference in performance. Generally I am not too brand loyal except I always use premium. We don't...
