    Carb and Distributor Recommendation

Hey Everyone. I'm almost finished with my engine build and I'm needing to choose a carb. I'm leaning toward a 650 edelbrock to match my intake. Would a 650 be good or should I step up to a 700? My other question is about the distributor. I have a 74 corvette and I need an MSD tach drive (or...

    Head Gasket Replacement Info

Hey Everyone, I am building an engine for my 1974 Corvette. I have a rebuilt 1981 LT9 short block that is bored .30 over with a mild edelbrock Cam. I was able to pick up a pair of freshly rebuilt 1966 462 camel hump heads that are setup for rocker studs, port polished, ect. I got a fairly...

    Question: Head Identification

Thanks for the replies. I've tried to look them up, unfortunately, I really can't make them out. From the second picture I posted, I think they might be 354434/376450/14014416. The marks looks a lot alike. Do the casting marks refer to the marks on the front and back of the heads or the mark...

    Question: Head Identification

Hi, I bought a rebuilt engine and have torn it apart to change the gaskets. It is an 1981 LT9 block, with mild edelbrock cam, and maybe 202 heads. When I purchased the motor I was told they were camel hump and misidentified them (they have a hump looking thing on them). I was wondering if...

Help! Rockers and Push Rod Question

Hi. I have a 1974 Corvette that had an engine swap. I know I'm about to get flamed when I say the type of engine, but it came in the car. It is a 1978 LM1 out of a Camaro. I've heard plenty of people tell me to buy a crate engine and not to build this. I don't have the money to buy a crate...

    Help! Possible fuel issue

I found the issue finally. It was the vacuum line that comes off the intake and runs down to the transmission. The other part goes to the break booster. It appeared to be on there, but will checking my timing I realized it wasn't pushed onto the metal nipple all the way. The car runs fine now...

    Help! Possible fuel issue

So I'm not really sure where to start. I hadn't drove my 74 in a while. It was really rainy for a while and I assumed water got in the gas. I used fuel stabilizer that claimed to remove water and my car ran better for a day. It will start up and idle fine. It will drive fine for a while...

    Help! Rogh Idle/Water in Gas

Well the seafoam worked. Car is running great again. Now I just need to fix the transmission line. :thumb

    Help! Rogh Idle/Water in Gas

That's great. :upthumbs Someone on here recommended it. The bottle said it would remove moisture. Do you know of anything that will and is it safe to mix it in with the seafoam in there?

    Help! Rogh Idle/Water in Gas

Well I got some seafoam and put in the tank. Hopefully that pulls some of the water out. I also found a pretty bad transmission leak in the line coming straight out of the radiator. Transmission fluid is literally spraying out. Would this cause the engine to run poorly? I know a vacuum leak...

    Help! Rogh Idle/Water in Gas

Ok. I've cleaned out the drain hose. Hopefully that won't happen again. I noticed some smoke coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. After looking closer it appears I have a transmission line leaking pretty badly. Would this cause the car to stall/idle poorly? I wasn't sure if it...

    Help! Rogh Idle/Water in Gas

I will have to check the drain. I didn't realize there was one. Yes. My quadrajet was replaced with an edelbrock 650 performer carb and intake. It is unfortunately a manual carb. I wish it was electric. Lol

    Help! Rogh Idle/Water in Gas

It's been raining pretty heavily in the central ohio area for about a week. Once the sun finally came out, I decided I'd drive the vette to work. It turned over a little rough when I first started it, but it drove about 2 miles to the gas station without any issues. When I got to the gas...

    Air Hood Door Solenoid

I've noticed. I went out and bought the wiring schematic for my 74, because all of the wire colors are incorrect in the Haines manual. I really need to find an assembly manual.

    Question: Bad Rag Joint

Duly noted. :L Thanks for the reply. I'll check my manual to see if there is anything about it. I don't recall seeing anything when I replaced the rag joint though. If all else fails, google all the way.
