I am sure that there will be other opinions, but I have stayed with the recommended Mobil 1 and AC filter. No problems at all. I do not race it or any other special application, just enjoyable driving and find the car to perform very well. :w

Killian A good idea to start above. Also, I would suggest, if you have not done so yet, going back to the store where you got the Optima. Explain to them that the battery will not hold a charge so that the tender will shut off. Ask for some relief per the warranty as it is causing problems...

I quickly read down through the posts and did not see a few things on this issue(they could have been there & I missed them). If I could, I would just mention them for what it is worth. I would strongly advise an AGM type battery because of the acid leakage possibility of conventional types...

I would agree with all of the above. Go with a 2001 or above if you can, lowest mileage-newest year. Most of the common problems will probably have been fixed. Most C-5 now have the column lock by pass installed, and the 6 speeds have the skip shift by pass in. So go shop. You...
