Hi guys:
just got my 81 back from its 55 week stay at the body shop. They did beautiful body work but screwed up a lot of stuff to the point where I told them I'd deal with the electrical mess they created. They suggested LED tail lights (all 4 red with reverse lights in a license plate frame)...
Getting the car painted, and I rally like this color combination. Found it on google, and it's not from a forum. Any thoughts on what the colors are? The shop says they can match it, but I'd love some input. Is the darker color Steel City Grey? Any other thoughts?
Thanks
John
p.s. sorry for...
Pics?
I've been looking on forums and google and can find a ton of pictures of fender flares on C3's up to '77, but hardly any pics of 78-82 with flared fenders. It's making me worry that the differences in body styles may make the flares not look as good on my particular year.
Anyone have any...
I've done a lot of searching, both on this site and the internet in general, and haven't seen a whole lot about fender flares. I'm getting some body work done and a paint job, and was just kicking around the idea of L-88 style flares. All of the kits I've seen say they fit C3 model years up to...
'81 corvette, would like a detachable steering wheel as a theft deterrent. Telescoping steering is apparently a problem per the shop that's doing a lot of the work. Does anyone know of any aftermarket kits that work well with this year?
Thanks!
p.s. just fired it up the first time last week...
If that shop manual is in fact specific for the year, I'd love to take it off your hands. PM me if you get a chance and I will be happy to pay you whatever you want for shipping and your trouble.
Thanks again.
Hi all:
This post is a request for suggestions on what works for engine cleaning and prep. A search on this forum yielded lots of good suggestions as to what kind of paint to use for the engine bay, but I would also welcome any more suggestions.
I'm still restoring my 1981. Bought it summer...
Hi all - thanks for everyone who's been kind enough to read/help with my numerous problems.
I put 17x8 AR Torq thrust II's on with 255/50/17's - love the look, rides great. Here's the problem - the other day I was driving around, heard a snap, saw something silver fly out from under my car...
Hi all:
Thanks for all of the help so far. I have a stock '81 that I'm in the process of restoring. To date, I've done the front end suspension, had the quadrajet rebuilt (runs 10x better), put in a new alternator, and just put new wheels on.
The last couple days I've had a problem with the...
Left my car in the garage for 4 days while I was out of town. Have a brand new alternator (last week) and battery (3 weeks ago). There are no obvious power drains (headlights on, radio, dome light, etc). Got in to fire it up today to see if my new electric choke and newly-rebuilt carburetor...
Hib:
Thanks for the advice. My car is registered as a classic/collectible and does not require further emissions testing in AZ.
I think I'll pursue the rebuild option with the electric choke and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.
john
Was getting really upset about rough starting requiring carb/choke spray. Read a lot of the posts and I decided to have my carb rebuilt here in tucson. I've read the warnings about having any person do it, but this guy assured me that he's done lots of quadrajets, and I know a couple people with...
follow-up question
I have some follow-up to this question.
I don't think my '81 quadrajet has ever had any TLC (starting is a bear that has amounted to copious amounts of carb&choke cleaner sprays into the carb). Am I able to buy one of the rebuilt ones from Jeg's as was posted, or will there...
Hi Dawn:
Evolution1980 suggested contacting you. I recently (last month) picked up a '81 that I found advertised on craigslist on Dove Mountain. I have a bunch of work to do on it, but it runs well. I saw that you recently painted it. I need to paint mine, as well.
It's midnight blue right...
