The time is here to drop the body on the chassis. Does anyone know if the radiator and its support need to be attached to the body or the frame prior to the drop? I have a photo from the factory showing the shroud around the fan but I dont see the radiator or support attached to the frame...
I just finished spraying on the DP50LF sealer. It's raining tomorrow so I'll wait until Saturday to spray on the acrylic laquer primer. With any luck the body will be ready for paint (classic white) by June 26th. Then the body will be married to the chassis on the 28th. We just might be able...
I'm in the process of restoring my 75 convertible. I rebuilt the entire AC system with the advice, instructions and directions of the folks at this website http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php. Most of the guys are really helpful and straighforward. I cross checked their information and it...
Does anyone know for certain what material was used to make the shroud. Mine is black and gray swirled plastic of some type but I dont know what it is. I've tried numerous adhesives, glues, and epoxy's and nothing seems to adhere to it.
It seems like a fair price to me considering all of the accessories that are included. Not to mention that it was signed by Al Unser, the winner of the race paced by the 78 vette.
I'll also say that I can't afford it but if I could it would be in my stable.
It's time to start painting and assembling the headlamp housing assemblies, however I don't know what color they were from the factory. I've checked the TMIJ guide and it's not listed; I checked other resources to no avail. Does anyone know what the finish was from the factory?
When I took...
Thanks for the information waterboy. What material is yours made of? Was yours painted from the factory?
Mine is original and looks like the blackish/gray material was pressed into a mold. I think it might be ABS but I'm not sure. Unfortunately it wasn't painted from the factory.
Does anyone know the best way to repair an original fan shroud? Mine has cracks and I'd like to repair it but I can't tell what it's made from; seems to be plastic of some sort. I don't know what type of adhesive to use for the repair. I'd appreciate any tips and advice.
Thanks.
Is there anyone out there with an A6 Air Conditioning Compressor that would be willing to help me out? Mine is from an original 1975 car and I'm trying to determine if the coil is within electrical tolerance. I've been told to unplug the connector and use a ohm meter on the two posts. I should...
I got an email from Year One's tech support and they said they have a system that will fit my car but it isn't reproduction and would never meet the NCRS judging criteria. However, they do offer the originally shaped round mufflers so I'll order them.
I spoke to an NCRS judge and he said there...
I'm replacing my exhaust pipes and mufflers and want to meet OEM material and dimensional specifications; basically NCRS criteria. I know there are some big companies out there and some are sponsors of this site but I can't find two of them to agree. So I'm looking for referrals from those of...
I'm not sure if this guy was there but I got his card at a show in Seattle. His work was wonderful. Check him out at www.DavidGphotography.com
Good luck.
GPB,
If you want to keep the car original and are interested in NCRS judging then I would have the original calipers rebuilt. There are casting numbers and date codes on both sides of all four calipers. You will need all of these numbers to determine if they are original or at least meet...
Tom,
Thanks for the detailed information, it's very helpful.
The last time I painted a car was about 25 years ago and we mixed brands all the time. I've been told by many not mix paint brands these days. Do you know of any problems that might arise if I spray Centari over PPG DP50?
Eric
John,
Thats just the kind of information I was seeking. We want to drive this to most of the meets so I think we too are going to use the bc/cc product. Thanks again for your quick reply.
Eric
Well I'm finishing up the sanding of the bare fiberglass and nearing primer stage on the 75 convertible. Finish coat is coming soon but we're at the crossroads for paint type. My local paint shop can still get acrylic lacquer but I've had second thoughts about laying it down.
We've worked...
Hey Rat,
Check the Chevy dealer before ordering from aftermarket. I have found on several occasions they have the correct GM part and it's often cheaper than the aftermarket.
