The dry sump on GS's is only on the coupe with manual trans only . A convertible with a manual trans will NOT get the dry sump or the hand assembled engine.
Thanks Hib, I will check that out. I saw something on the Speed Channel about it. Didn't catch it all but what I did see seemed to be very positive. Also thanks for being on top of the Vette scene. We or at least I appreciate all the excellent articles you have given us through the years.
I think it has to do with the vents for the rear brakes on the Z06 and the Grand Sports. The only time I noticed it on my 2005 Coupe was when I used the pressure washer.
I have had the same problem with the 3 C6s that I have owned. I just put it off as one of those things in life that you learn to live with. I have mellowed quite a bit. Some things are just out of your control. I don't really find it that annoying. It only happens when I am washing the car.
Hib thanks for the heads up. I haven't been able to read too many publications lately as my employer has cut my department down to 2 guys and still the same amount of work for 5 guys. I may have to trade the 2010 Grand Sport in and get another Z06. I do miss the ponies of my Z and was thinking...
Recalls
I don't think we have we have it that bad. I have had 8 Corvettes now. 6 I have bought new. I have had only 1 recall notice for all those cars. Not bad in my opinion. I know people with Benz's and Fords and just about any other manufacturer you can think of, in fact Audi just popped...
I've had 8 Corvettes in the last 18 years. Each year EVERYTHING seems to get smoother/better. I am reminded of this every time I take the Camaro or Bel Air for a weekend cruise. Can't wait to get back to luxury, smooth horsepower with gobbs of torque and excellent handling.
I don't know about the numbers, but I know there is definitely a difference between the LS7 and the LS3. My Z06 was A LOT faster and had A Lot more torque than the LS3 that is residing in my GS right now. I will be adding a supercharger as soon as I can get the $ without the little woman...
Sorry to hear about your tranny problems. I have just over 5K on my GS 6 speed and NO problems what so ever. This is my 9th Corvette and they just keep getting better. The only problem I have EVER had was the steering wheel lock out on the 2000 FRC. I still loved that car with a passion. Almost...
I have pulled my fuse and left it out. Cheaper than the "Mild to Wild" accessory. I had bought that for the Z06 and always left it in the open position anyway. It sounds great in my humble opinion. The GS has a lot more popping than the Z06 had on deceleration.
Outstanding Mr. D. I can't imagine you with MORE horsies. Have fun. I am trying to work some vacation time into my schedule. Would like to get back that way again. Still remember trying to keep up with you from the Museum to the assembly plant. You do know that road quite well.
I've been considering a supercharger. Twin turbos are my second option. there is a setup I saw on Gearz that looks pretty trick. All the plumbing goes throuh the rockers and the turbos are mounted in place of the mufflers.
Al, I don't think you will be disappointed. Just getting in and out will be worth the price of admission. I know all too well. I still have my 1990 ZR1. I had to drive it for a month recently when my 07 Z06 was damaged by a lady in a Toyota. I do miss the 70 ponies that the Z06 had over my Grand...
1817 miles as of right now. Mine runs great but as a Z06 owner I can definately feel the loss of 70 ponies. I will rectify that soon. Congrats on the new Vette!
