Can any of you guys who have lowered your gear ratio from 3:07 weigh in with a recommendation (i.e. is it worth it?) I noticed today that Corvette Central has rebuilt Dana 36 's for $1150. (either 3:55 or 3:73) and I'm tempted.
Thanks-
Jeff
muffler eliminators
$180. plus s&h from Mid America, plus an hour's labor for a mechanic to install. Total investment less than $275. Although I've been using the same mechanic for 20 yrs, I personally wouldn't trust him to replace the mufflers with his own pipe, as I'd bet it would look...
A data point for you
Rain, I can tell you that on my previous machine, a 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII w/ low miles, I installed a pair of Flowmaster "Delta 40" series muffs and was disappointed with the sound (they weren't loud enough for me), but I lived with them. There was also a resonance issue...
I also went from open-top airbox w/panel K&N to the SLP "Claw"
...and am very happy with the new set-up. Like a couple of posters above I didn't like the kludgy way the K&N was designed to fit in the stock airbox, with the included foam strips and grease that K&N requires you to use in...
C5d, you definitely went above and beyond the call of duty in your research... Thank you!
I have attached a photo of the flasher unit (I have not installed it yet) so you can see what it looks like. The black plastic cover is non-removable and keeps the thing dry. The unit came with two wire...
I asked one local cop here in VA...
and he didn't think it was illegal. I bought a unit from http://webelectricproducts.com, $31. delivered. It's got a "delay-repeat" feature, meaning that the brake lights have to be off for at least 10 seconds before the flashing cycle can be restarted. So...
I've owned this wonderful vehicle for about 3 wks now. On the cruise home tonight a random thought passed through the windmills of my mind. I drive with the power seat positioned absolutely as far aft as it will go. I'm 5'8. Just out of curiosity, how does someone who's tall (arbitrarily: 6'2...
it's high...
DarkShark78-
A point of reference. About 3 wks ago I traveled to Berryville VA (from Alexandria) to buy my 95 coupe (see photo). Found it on autotrader.com. Owner was asking $17k, he accepted my offer of $16.5. Car had 32,600 mi when I took possession of it. He had put new...
c5d, you have a good point about most thefts being for parts. My experience is similar; both times my old 280z was broken into, yrs ago, the perp was after parts. The s.o.b. even stole the gas cap!
regards, Jeff
Was wondering if anyone has had, or heard about, any experience relating to attempted theft of their C4. My recently-acquired '95 has the resistor in the key feature (first car I've ever owned that's so equipped) and of course the factory alarm.
Do any of you feel the need for (or have you...
if it were me...
Mike I would find a competent local mechanic, one who's knowledgeable about Corvettes, and have him do a thorough check-up. Shouldn't run more than $100. but well worth the peace of mind. Since the seller is a friend of your family, I wouldn't think he'd object, after all...
Wow!
I just bought a 95 coupe 2 wks ago with 32,600 miles and thought the mileage was remarkably low... with 13,000, that ragtop (hopefully) should have plenty of life left! Good luck and enjoy!
