Congrats...my first car was a C3 too!
Brakes are a really good place to start IMHO. Dad, you said the brakes were reworked by the seller but are now bottoming out. If you haven't done so already, do some searches online and read up on C3 brakes. They work quite differently from the disc...
I've never had any luck with conventional moustraps.
Glue traps work ok but they tend to get covered with dirt/leaves/bugs and lose their effectiveness within a few weeks.
I tried one of those electronic gizmos that claims to scare them away by 'creating an acoustically hostile environent'...
There seems to be a pattern of trying to do the right thing but rushing to market with technology that isn't quite ready. (ie Aluminum engine blocks, V 8-6-4, Diesel Olds, EV1) I really hope that the Volt doesn't get added to this list.
I hate to say it but that's how it happened with mine too. First a tick-tick-tick then a clack-clack-clack. One rocker was loose (#3 exhaust) so we adjusted it but the tick wouldn't go away. I tried adjusting it with the engine running but immediately noticed that rocker wasn't moving nearly...
According to NCRS Judging Guide I don't think they're LT-1's:
1970 L46 and LT-1: 3927186
Base and LT-1:
3973487(1971)
3973487-x (1972)
3998916(1972)
3998993(1972)
I found this site when I Googled 3991492: http://www.racetimepromotions.com/data.htm
Hope this helps.
While I have insufficient technical knowledge to be of much help here's what the previous owner of my '72 LT-1 did:
Stroked it to 383ci
Put in a hydraulic cam (edelbrock 7102)
increased compression to 11:1
swapped heads to 180cc AFR's
installed a Transistorized Ignition
That's all that I am...
I have a '72 LT-1 ;), however while it has a Transistorized Ignition today it didn't leave the factory that way. I'm certain of this because I asked a question about it's operation on the NCRS board a year or so ago and was basically attacked about how it shouldn't be there, etc, etc. (Never...
I saw one a few weeks ago at a cruise. I think it started out as a '79(?) The owner told me he put a '68 rear end on it, I honestly can't remember the front because I was so taken with the back. He painted the rear bumperettes body colour (red) which seems like an odd thing to do after going...
