'82 Corvette ECM 1225550 swap to '84 Corvette ECM 1226430

Hope this helps the OP also. I was not having the problem. Only interested in an 84 ecm in an 82.

'82 Corvette ECM 1225550 swap to '84 Corvette ECM 1226430

I stand corrected. You do have the correct part numbers. Looked them up on Rock Auto. I was not aware the 84 Vette had a manual transmission as well as an automatic transmission. Live and learn.

'82 Corvette ECM 1225550 swap to '84 Corvette ECM 1226430

Been interested in this for a long time. Think you meant to say that you will have a high idle if you use the PROM for a manual. The ecm is same for automatic and manual, its the PROM that is different.

'82 Corvette ECM 1225550 swap to '84 Corvette ECM 1226430

Are the connectors the same as the 82? Not interested or capable in doing any sort of rewiring.

'82 Corvette ECM 1225550 swap to '84 Corvette ECM 1226430

Would be interested in what improvements you experienced. Recently swapped out my stock 82 ecm or another Cardone 82 ecm to fix some problems I had. Later others said I should have gone to the 84. Did not know it was a direct plug and play. If it is worth it, will spend the $ for an 84 ecm...

    where is my horn

That is probably where they are hidden. Have to get to them from underneath and remove some wheel liner stuff to reach them. Probably would not be a bad idea to extend the wiring when you get to them and put them in a more convenient place, like next to the headlight actuators. But do not...

    Chassis lube?

The connection on the steering control valve is a hot topic. Some say NEVER lube that, that it was there for original assy. Makes me wonder. My Delco replacement does not have the fitting. So, if it is there, it would seem you lube it. But I can tell you from experience with a previous one...

WTB: Nut for 82 air cleaner

I wish I did! I dropped one of mine and it fell down the fresh air vent ducting below the windshield never to be seen again.

Pull toggle switch under steering column

When I first got my 82 in 97, I found the same thing. Tried to twist it right an left. Nothing . Then pulled it down and the headlights went up. I almost broke it off!

Tires for '81...What do you recommend?

Research until you are blue in the face. Firestone Indy 500's are the best for ride, control, mpg and total mileage. Alot of people will say BFG, Dunlop, etc. After 200K miles on my 82, nothing but the 500's compare. Have had them all.

    79-82 Tinted Rear Window Insert???

Please trust me on this. The insert is Lexan plexiglass and WILL scratch when you clean it. It can vibrate - if you have louder than stock mufflers. It can cause distortion. It does NOT provide any heat reduction. It is simply a tint. Nothing reflects heat. Without this, if we all...

    cross fire injection?

First, what does "kick it in" mean? Rev it up and drop into drive? By by tranmission if you do that all the time, and why? Power brake and released? Try asphalt if you have a thing for spinning the wheels. Remember, its 200 + or - horsepower, with relatively wider tires. You just won't get...

    82 Vette owners

Let us know how it worked. I am so tired of turning a corner, and, at 15 mph having to pull away in 2nd gear instead of first.

    Driven Daily/Mileage?

Got access to a company car today. A 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee (has 100K miles on it, but maintained). Now I can retire to casual use my 82, which as of today, has 199,952 miles on it. Put 145,000 miles on it in 7 years. Will do an oil change, wash, wax etc etc and drive once a week - about...

    Favorite Spark plugs...

I'll be darned. They have a poll on spark plugs. Oh Oh, look, someone said something about Luddites. Man, what a coincidence. Vettehead Michelle did you do that?
