Help! 84 vette crossfire injector lead fail

You need to find out what missing at the injector connector, get a good wiring harness diagram. One side has voltage & the other is a ground. Do a continuity check between the inj. connector & the ecm & anything else thats on the diagram. The ground side pulses when cranking.

1982 EGR Solenoid, a rare item.......

The egr valve should never open at idle, so hook a vacuum gauge up to the egr hose & hook up the solenoid, when you start it there should be no vacuum on the gauge w/ either the electrical connector plugged in or not. You need to start by checking for vacuum leaks, they cause high idle issues...

    Could CTS be culprit here?

There are several coolant sensors, one for the gauge (drivers side head), one for the fan (pass. side head), & one for the ecm (front intake). If the one in the intake is acting funny it'll make your car run bad, usually rich. I like to replace it w/ the newer style sensor & connector. Get one...

    Question: ZR1 Sway Bars

I wouldn't say it'll understeer like crazy, these cars have some pretty sticky tires. I once had a 3rd gen base camaro, went from only a small front bar to thick irock bars front & rear. Stock springs, shocks, & struts,it drove very well. I'd be worried more about having a good alignment, not...

Question: Has anybody fitted a c5 transaxle in a c4??

There's a guy who put one in a 3rd gen camaro, look on 3rdgen.

    *** temp sensor help??????????

It probably is running rich, these injection systems are senstive vacuum leaks. I'd check all the hoses & grab the throttle linkages & see if there loose, a common problem. Check the coolant temp sensor, these have an early style connector thats been a problem. You can splice in a newer style...

    84 loss of powr

Check the fusiable links, might have some at the battery & starter. Use a test light to probe each wire a couple inches from where it hooks up.

    diagnostic computer

Look on e bay for a Tech I, this was a GM only scanner. The Tech II is out there too, I know that one does OBD2 cars plus the earlier ones. The snap on red brick has been out there for forever also.

    Help! Crossfire EFI problems.

Did you change the coolant temp sensor? If you did, did you use an oem style? Those are troublesome, use one from a 88-up tbi truck(get the connector too). There are other cars that use that sensor, the parts store should have the connector too. Check that fuel pressure at the fuel filter...

    Help to pass SoCal smog

Is the egr stuck open or is it getting vacuum at idle? You need to get a handle on that. Make sure the t-stat is good & at the oem temp rating (195*). Get it nice 'n warm for the test. Get a new pcv valve, replace any bad vacuum hoses. Change the oil if its due. If you have to replace the egr...

    Dana 30 and Dana 36

The dana 30 is a smaller diameter set, so its weaker then the 36. Thast all you need to know. You can find a complete 36 in a housing w/ 3.07 pretty cheap.

Replace the fuel pump on your 84!!

The regulator makes the pressure. Using a 85 pump in a 84 will not have higher pressure unless you have a restriction in the return line. Dead headpressure is when there is a complete blockage. Alot more fuel will be returned to the tank (in the return line) using an 85 pump. The regulator...

Help! Engine sputtering and car shaking at low speeds

The egr valve might be stuck open alittle, or the egr solenoid is causing it to open. Try unhooking the vacuum supply to see if there is any diffence, you might have to pull the valve out & inspect it.

    Renegade

It would be worth the effort if DCS purchased a stock 84, tuned it up,tested it at the track & on the dyno. Then do the intake swap, & test it again. I guess it doesn't matter when you have a bunch orders of intakes. Wasn't there a magazine that was gonna do a story on the Renegade?

    Question: metal on metal

Those years don't have seperate pads/shoes for the parking brake. When you apply it, the cable pulls a lever that pushes the regular brake pad against the rotor. I'd look for scrape makes on the old rotor, maybe the bearing is going bad.

Help! Bottom End Knocking, only @ idle, only after car warms up.

I'd first remove the drive belt to make sure its not a alternator, p/s pump, ect. I'd remove the valve covers to make sure its not a loose rocker arm. Its fairly easy to remove the oil pan, grab the rods & wiggle them. If you find one that moves, pull the cap so you can look at the bearing.
