If you are thinking crate engine, then just put the original block aside. You can always drop it back in at resale time.
New carpets/seats/console will always help resale for this vintage. Save all the old parts.
Anyone ever have problems with their wiper knuckles? Mine don't move as freely as I think they should, and I have burnt out two wiper motors over the last 3 years. Can the pivots be lubed or should they just be replaced? thanks.
People will always want to buy what was "cool" from when they were 12 years old. But they usually don't have the $$ until they are 35-45 years old. So, anything collectable (cars, memorabilia, etc) usually hits its peak in about 25-40 years, then has less rapid growth afterwards.

I had an '85 that I used as my winter beater. Biggest problem for me was ground clearance - I drive on a lot of unplowed back roads to get to work, and I continually broke off the chin spoiler.
Pipes are great fun until you go DEAF !! My '69 427 has pipes, you really have wear ear plugs if you're driving long distance. But for that brute force thrill, nothing beats 'em.
