    FS rebuilt 3.08 differential

My 66 got 19 to 20.5 mpg on the highway with 3.08 differential gears, and still had enough torque to just let the clutch out at idle in first gear without stalling. I had this diff rebuilt about 8 years ago for a spare, sealed it in a bag, and boxed it up. The rebuilder replaced clutches...

great ammeter article in sept 2008 Hot Rod mag

In the Pit Stop column, on pages 132 and 134 it describes the older "ammeter" wiring with "external shunt" that c2 owners have had to come to terms with.

comparing air dams and looking at cold air ducting

I stopped at the shop that painted my car and Mike was painting a 69 Camaro air dam, so I got a chance to compare it to the air dam on my 66. First I put the Camaro air dam in the mold made from my air dam, then I put the Camaro dam next to a dam made from the mold. The camaro dam has a deeperV...

    fresh air for the carb

Not as elegant as 67heaven's hood, but it will do. A few years ago, when I noticed the stinger on the underside of the hood let the fan recycle hot air over the top of the A-C hood seal, I stuffed a piece of foam in the stinger above the hood support to fill the gap. That not only helped city...

Question: What happens when shielded secondary touches coil primary?

Answer: I forgot to put back the rubber caps I made for the coil primary studs. Had to run to NAPA for more pink wire. The line now has a fuse in it too.

I put my car alarm on the phone

I got my cellalarm in the mail this week and hooked it up to my car alarm. It works great. If my car alarm goes off, the cellalarm calls the phone I carry. One more level of protection, and a good one too.

I need a trailing arm measurement

Could someone please tell me the distance from the center of the spindle (hole) to the center of the frame anchor bolt (hole)? I am checking a rear wheel alignment at home, and I need to know how much tire movement (toe in) occurs when shims are moved at the anchor bolt.

Think I finally got my A-C 66's cooling system right

The temps had been unstable and surging coming off expressways. I have a Griffin BB radiator and a 16 inch Derale fan in the stock shroud opening - with Derale temp control. I've been trying mods to get the thing stablized. Some hot days it works perfect, some cooler days unstable - then hotter...

The only thing almost as much fun as driving an old Corvette

is working on one. I was under the Corvette, trying to dislodge the differential pinion nut - when my neighbor went out to his garage, pulled the cover off his red Miata, got in with his wife, and drove off with the top down and the stereo blasting. I thought to myself, I wouldn't trade...
