    Too Many Volts ????

Dennis, First good luck with the new Hip. I know two guys who have replacement hips and both say "I should have done it sooner". They endured too much pain before giving in. Now they feel so much better they wish they had done it much sooner. 'Hope it is the same for you. Now about the...

    Brakes for a '96 C4

I would like to know what experience others have had with '96 C4 brakes. How many miles were driven on the original pads? Did you replace front and rear at the same time? When they were replaced were any new rotors needed? Calipers? Background: I have my '96 LT4 for sale. A prospective...

    Winter storage questions

Thanks guys. Thanks for the suggeations. A search on "winter storage" turned up a lot more material, but your stuff hit the high spots. I had washed and waxed the outside and treated tires and interior leather already. I called it a "trickle charger" but the one I have is voltage regulated...

    Winter storage questions

I bought a 1997 last spring and sadly in Michigan it is time to park it. Other than puting a trickle charger on the battery, what do I need to do? Is taking the weight off the tires a good idea? How about seting it up on the frame so the weight is off the suspension also? Is there a way to...

    Shifter Knob Removal?

Shift knob removed! Thanks again FX GS. Your information was the key to success. I could not get vicegrips to do the job, and they were marking up the wedge each time they slipped off. So, I made a simple pull hammer from 3/8 threaded rod , a piece of 1/2 inch pipe and an adaptor made to get...

    Shifter boot broke loose

thanks again JMCCloud I got the shifter boot cover off. Your directions were right on except 1) there was also a screw under one of the cup holder rubber covers and 2) removing the console cover was not optional. A tab of the boot cover went under the console cover so you could not move it up...

    Shifter boot broke loose

Thanks JMCCloud It will be a few days before I get to give it a try. I'll send another message after that.

    Shifter boot broke loose

The leather shifter boot in my '96 six-speed is loose at the console. It appears the fastening screws are still with the boot but the plastic they screwd into from below has broken off from the console cover. This is the center console cover around the shifter. How do you take the the console...

    '96 Chassis lube points

Helm shop manual Ken, I know the shop manuals are good, but $120 for a book just seems outrageous.

    '96 Chassis lube points

Thanks Thanks Rabbit and B17Crew. I am convinced there are only for fittings to grease. Bummer the Haynes Manual not only has very little information in it, what's there can't be trusted!

    '96 Chassis lube points

Sounds like the '90 had grease fittings on the outer tie rod ends. Maybe they were replaced with sealed rod ends on later models? Does anyone know for sure? On my '96 there are rubber boots over the ends of the steering rack and the inner tie rod ends, the outer tie rod ends (near the wheel) do...

    '96 Chassis lube points

How many places to grease? I recently purchased a '96 six speed coupe. In my Haynes 84-96 manual it says there are 8 chassis fittings to grease. Three at each front wheel and one at each end of the rear tie rod. On inspection I find only four. One high and one low near each front wheel. I...

    LT4 Tires for '96 LT4

I just purchased this car from the original owner. It needs rear tires. The fronts are now GoodYear Eagle F1 GS, P 255/45 ZR17's. They have about 1/4 inch of tread left. My guess is that's about 1/2 the original tread. I don't plan to replace them yet. The old rears are GoodYear Eagle F1...

    PKE System not working

PKE Dash unit New Member SR94 posted this a few messages back: "At least your's shows some signs of life, which hopefully means that the receiver is still OK. My PKE was completely unresponsive and it ended up being a bad receiver. It's ~$200 and a PITA to replace - it's buried in the dash...

    Life above 110 mph

High RPM limit You could be hitting the High RPM limit. At that point the PCM begins to interrupt ignition. I don't know the factory RPM limit setting for your car, but the setting is programmable. The hop-up tuners almost always increase the factory setting, as part of the PCM reprograming...

    un-program fob

deprograming a key fob Glad you got it working. I think we learned, if you have 2 or 3 fobs programmed, and you want to remove one, you must reprogram one of the remaining fobs twice. WOW, who a thunk it! Even a blind squril finds a nut sometimes.
