I am posting the following cast and stamp #'s hoping someone can help in determining their correct origin:

Head #1 - Casting #'s under valve cover are 3946074 and 6 368.
Casting #'s on intake runner are 5410 and 7-2269.
Stamping on front is CRM H67

Head #2 - Casting #'s under valve cover are 3946074 and 6 745.
Casting #'s on intake runners are 5410 and 7-25-69.
Stamping on front is CRM H67

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your quick response. Can we determine a specific year or vehicle application based on any of the listed cast or stamping # 's?

not as far as i know. i have a couple of sets myself and i bought them over the counter when they were new. the 7-22-69 and 7-25-69 are the casting dates

Bill, the heads are listed as 69 427 L88, ZL1, Aluminum, 118cc chamber, I believe you need the engine ID# that they were bolted to in order to know what it was used in. Hope this helps.

Value

Craig,

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that with all the casting and stamping #'s that are on these heads we could have narrowed it down a liitle further. However, it was a nice surprise to discover that the heads were 69 L88 or ZL1 vintage after owning them for over a decade and not knowing. Any idea of the value of these heads?

Bill

Bill:

Those heads were originally used on 2 1969 Corvette engines and 1 1969 Camaro engine, ie: 2nd design L88 (after June 16th 1969) built engines and the ZL1.

Then this head was again used on the 1971 LS6 Corvette engine. A total of 3 engine applications for 2 car models, for 2 calendar years.

Trivia - sixty-nine ZL-1 Camaros were built, in February and March, 1969; I walked the first 50 of them down the engine dress line, one at a time, at Norwood in February. :D

John,

Thanks for the neat trivia. Excellent profile. Motorman suggested the heads had a build date of 7-25-69 and 7-22-69. Based on your reply, this seems to rule out a ZL1 Camaro application. It looks more like they are a late 69 early 70 Corvette L88 application. Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Bill
