Having battery problems again. Didnt drive the car for 4 days (out of town). Came home, get in, and nothing....dead battery. The few suggestions I have had is to replace the alternator with a 180 amp alternator instead of the 105amp. Anything special need to be done as far as wiring goes?
I am planning to replace the belt tensioner too, as it has been suggested that the fluctuations in voltage (as read by dashboard) is due to the alternator not putting out correctly as the belt may be slipping or not have enough tension on it to spin the alternator at correct speed to run properly.
I know it sounds silly, but not being an electrical guy (more mechanical) a little afraid to make such a change without considering the consequences of possibly frying wires or even starting an electrical fire altogether. Anyone able to help here? Thanks.
