i recently have bought a 1967 roadster which was originally an 427/435 hp car, (code "je", built date april 13th,ps, m21 close ratio) but now has an 69 bb engine.

now i want to install an original engine again. maybe somebody of you can help me with the questions i have.
- where can i get a complete engine (what would it cost)?
- would it be more usefull to buy the engine in parts? block,
intake,carbs ect. from different companies?
- the rebuilt of the engine will be done at a shop in germany near
by my house but i want to rebuilt the engine with some good
aftermarket pieces such as forged pistons, comp cams and so
on. do you have any ideas about what parts i should order.
- is there a company on the market which offers a complete rebuilt
kit for that type of engine?
- cranes corvette offers a complete dated tripower setup with
new carbs, intake, choke kit for 2.995 $ which seems a high price
to me - has anybody made some experience with them or
knows a cheaper company?
- the most aftermarket companies offer cams for hydraulic lifters -
do you think it is a good idea to change to hydraulic lifters (the
car will be used for cruising, should have low- and midrange
torque with a main rpm range about 3000)?

i hope you can answer me my questions because in germany it is hard to get good information for that type of engine

thanks in advance
reinhard

Howdy.......Mein Herr:
Have you purchased this vette as an investment or a driver??

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center Reinhard. There are several things to concider when assembling an engine that will depend on what you want when finished. If you are looking to build a nice driver that looks original but not NCRS show detailed you can save money in several areas.

Tell us if you are looking to have a NCRS show quality all correct numbers engine or one that looks original but can deviate in the numbers, cam, and other areas. In other words one that looks right but takes advantage of modern technology to end up with a better performing and easier to live with driver.

hi to all,
i want to built a driver which looks original but with the advantage of new technologies, such as new camshaft, arp studs, forged pistons ...
the block, intake, exhaust manifold should have the right numbers and date but i do not want to built a ncrs award winner
