Help! 1977 ignition

Im new to this forum but wondering if anyone can help.
I have a 1977 corvette and the key will not turn back, turns forward fine.
Would i need a new key cylinder with a new key. or just the ignition switch itself.

Could be switch,actuator assy.,tumbler assy. or Mal adjusted!!

or the transmission interlock cable is bent. Is this a 4 speed car?

I'm not sure what you mean by back. Can you get the key out. It will go back further than that but you need to depress the little lever on the steering wheel.

Mine is difficult as well. I have to play with it and eventually it will go back.

If you can turn it on, turn it off, and get the key out, then I would leave it alone.

You may get it back to accessories, and not be able to get it forward to off.

Try spraying some WD40 in the Key cylinder,sometimes it just needs a little Lubrication!!

Try pushing in on the ignition switch as you are trying to get to the ACC. position. Mine won't go unless I do that.
