Can this be correct? I found this auction for a beautiful, original, numbers-matching 1978 25th Anniversary Vette... for $9,900:

While I'm not in the market for another car (plus, my wife would kill me), I have grown fond of the '78 and '79 Vette. I would think that the Anniversary variety would command a much higher price. Any thoughts?

Take a Good Look!! That car is a Candy Coated Rust Bucket!!! And it's just a 78 that someone has tried to make it Look like a Silver Anniversary Limited Edition!!:upthumbs

You are good! Yep, I see the nasty rust in the pic of the door. The guy should also advertise that the car is a 25th Anniversary clone --- sure is misleading.

"If it looks too good to be true, it probably is..."

How bout the rust stains in the carpet!!! Can you say "BAD BIRD CAGE"!!:upthumbs

The fender on the passenger side where the nose bolts on dont look right. and from the looks of the interior and engine bay that vette is in sad shape.Paint aint gonna hide everything!

Well good thing ebay has this:
Learn how you are protectedFree buyer protection coverage
eBay provides up to $20,000 in fraud protection for this vehicle.I wonder how effective that is when you have been mislead.

I like how the seller says halfway through it that it has anniversary paint scheme.

I haven't looked at the ad, but keep in mind that all 1978 Corvettes were 25th Anniversary cars, and had the emblem to match.

The Silver Anniversary cars were simply a paint option (B2Z) and the Limited Edition (Pace Car Replica) was a model (1YZ87/78).

:)

Well that makes sense!!

He does have a pict of the VIN # so I guess it would be easy to figure out.

I wrote the seller privately regarding the paint scheme, rust, and overall authenticity.

He got rather defensive and informed me that he's been selling for over 25 years. He said that the Vette is a "silver code 13 car" and that the silver anniversary car has "13/07"...

I read his feedback, and one of the ratings had the following statement, "I was misrepresented said 79 vette was in great condition its a piece of junk." :booger

Ralph, I've also tried sending private messages a few times to sellers on eBay and just like you received a defensive message back. I'll still do it if I feel it is misleading. Good for you for contacting the seller. It is very misleading.

Correct. All '78s are 25th Anniversary cars. Silver Anniversary is only an options package.

Nothing in the listing for this tired old '78 to indicate whether it is or is not an actual B2Z car. Trim tag will confirm the paint codes. Listing says it's a silver car, then mentions the anniversary paint scheme.

Belt is off the AC.

All things considered, not a bad '78. The seller does not say this car is new.

:)

Looks as though someone's trying to pollish a turd.
