Can I remove my oil pan without jacking the engine up? Are there anyother things to consider?

Steve

I'm not sure for the 1980, but for my '69 with NO PS, I remove the idler arm which allows me to move the tie rod sleve down enough to get the pan out. The pitman arm connection could be removed as an alternate, but I don't like to take a pickle fork to things that I'm not replacing.

hello, i removed the idler arm on mine. the pan came out so smoothly it was amazing. if you ever tried that on a bib block ranchero you'd know what i mean

And if you've ever tried it on a 1984 Toyota Tercel hatchback you'll also know exactly what Robin means. When they stuff that big ol' 1.4 Liter engine in that little car, there's no room leftover!
;LOL ;LOL

Dad wasn't happy when we hacksawed one of his wrenches so we could get that last bolt 1/12 of a turn at a time.

I hope the rest of the guys have been more helpful than me! Good luck with it.

Culprit

Thanks for the replies, but does anyone have an answer to my question?
