1985 gear change

In a 1985 /Z51 package 3:07 rear gear Vette what is the taller gear that it take without crazy mods ....3:70...etc

If you are sure it is a 3.07 that means you have an automatic trans. and the DANA 36 differential. The Dana 36 has a 3.73 ratio available. Should you have a stick it is a 3.08 and it is a larger unit(Dana44). The model # and ratio are stamped into the bottom of the differential.

Keep in mind, you need a special tool called a case stretcher to replace the pig. Unless you understand the limits of this and the relationship of the differential, suspension and transmission I'd take it to a gear or corvette specialist.
