Suddenly realised the oil pressure was showing very high (70-80 psi) so started
to investigate. Unfortunately, I'm feeling particularly stupid as despite having
the shop manual and looking at the drawings, I can't locate the oil pressure switch to either test it or
determine the type of replacement I might need. Anybody help please? (VIN is
1G1YY3187J5120215). Thanks in advance, Richard

Look at the rear of engine, on the driver's side, across from the distributor. It may help to remove the rear plenum plate cover. If you are seeing constant high values around 80, I would check for a disconnected wire to the oil sending unit or an open circuit. If your 1988 is like my 1989, you can locate the tan wire. If that tan wire is disconnected, then the cluster displays around 80. If that tan wire is grounded, then the cluster should show 0.
