Not that i wanna put myself into an discussion but...
I thought you didn't want to buy a Callaway because the Aurora isn't payed off yet ect ect? Change in plan?

Groeten Peter.

How odd... It also has an adjustable suspension, I guess FX3, as the Z07 didn't come out until 1991.
FX3 came out in 89.

I think the price is awesome. I love the intercooler scoops. Had that car been for sale when I was shopping it would be in my drive ;)

Aerobody kit $8K Labor to install and full concours paint $13.5K I have gone this route It took close to 4 months to have it done by Dave Secaur of The Final Finish in Branford CT He did all of the SPEEDSTERS and alot of the Aerobodies. So it might be in your best interest to buy an Aerobody I also did the wonderbar and coilover with FX3 and the Callaway Megaphone exhaust system and Turbo wastegate revalving. I would buy a car that had the aerobody on it already. If you are going to go look at that car let me know and I will meet you there and look it over with you . I have a little Callaway knowledge.

Yes, you're absolutely right Peter... But this car is $28-29k, not $35-45k. And it's loaded, and red! It isn't the best time to buy a car for me right now. However, this thing has me drooling a bit (moreso when I thought it was an aerobody).

One issue I'm grappling with is that what are the odds another red '90 or '91 will be on the market when I'm ready to buy? I'm asking, as I don't really know. But I'd think it would be slightly slim as there aren't a lot of these cars. The fact that it's loaded, has the '91 scoops, and is an original-owner are also quite nice... And it would get me into the car for lower initial output. I could pay for the aero kit later, though it would probably cost more total than a used car with the aerobody already on it.

I'm not sure exactly what to do. I'd love to hear some non-cheerleading (I'm already too excited) feedback about the price, the equipment level, the idea of later adding an aerobody (has anyone done that? Was it costly? Time consuming? etc?) and anything else.

I'm usually very frugal and levelheaded about money, but one thing that totally flips me out is cars, Corvettes especially. :(

Yes it was over 20K The car has does not have any orange peel. Wet sanded and it looks like a red mirrorThe entire car was repainted it is the only way to go. Great shine .I would buy the Callaway and then add the kit if you could afford the car now they are going to be going up in value and is a good idea to get your foot in the door . I bought a stock bodied car because it was a good deal .That car is a good deal if all checks out with it.I would jump on it . If I didn't just buy a house and a new baby boy I would pick that car up .

Wow... So that was $13.5k just for labor and paint? For a total of $21.5k? Or the grand total was $13.5k? Either way, that's :eek, but over 20 grand would be :eek :eek :eek Wasn't it just a $6500 option back when the cars were new?

What do you mean by concours paint? Did you get your entire car repainted? I wouldn't want like 8 coats of single-stage, wetsanded between coats, ultra smooth ultra deep paint on the body kit, but then factory orange peel on the rest of the car. ;)

I'm going to get some more info on this car and we'll see. But I really want an aero car. So it might make the most sense to pass on this one (well, I know that makes more sense, but I need to convince myself of it).

I'd love to see some shots of your car and some close-up reflections off that smooth paint! :)
Pictures of Pete's B2K (over the various stages) can be seen at www.callawayownersgroup.com under GALLERY > then look at the MAY 2003 & MAY 2004 Callaway of the Month archives - hope this helps :m

I called Callaway and spoke with Joanne. She was very friendly and helpful. The car is actually #24, not #26. It did get the scoop upgrade and the big wonderbar. And it was in for at least one tune-up, a new starter, a small oil leak, and a few other minor things. Sounds like the guy took it there for much of the maintenance and repair work.
Joanne IS Awesome & the best resource one could ever have :upthumbs
...sounds like the car is definately worthwhile :)

...for a while I could drive the car with less concern for the bodywork (I'm quite obsessive, though).
I absolutely dislike driving my B2K in the area - traffic around the area makes me nervous :eek
Your game plan of driving it for awhile does make sense - you can buy the AeroBody also, and store it until you are ready to install it (buy in stages ;) )

Good luck :v :w

The sticker total: $38,538 with $4,959 worth of options
Does the GM sticker normally include the B2K option?
A B2K "ordered car" will list the ship to dealer as: Callaway Cars Old lyme CT in the bottom left part of the Chevrolet window sticker

Aurora40 said:
Nope, it says Porter Chevrolet in Cambridge, MA as the ship to dealer. Another thing to look for when I see it in person. :)
I should probably clarify - there will be two places listed -

there will be one titled "Dealer to whom delivered" - the selling dealer for your car would be found there - like "County Chevrolet" in Old Mill, Virginia (or wherever) and then below that, it will say "Delivered to dealer at: Old Lyme, CT" if it was ordered as a B2K car - if not, the two names should then match, and then the car would be what was sent to Callaway Cars and called a Direct Conversion car -
Hope this helps :v :m

Ok, yes it does say that. Well, it sure seems to. It's a fax, and that part is small. Definitely delivered to dealer at: O** *YME CT. I'm sure it's Old Lyme, CT. That's cool, and that's what the owner said. So far everything he's saying is coming up true. :)
sounds great - what day are you going to go look at it?? :Steer

Aurora, ya need to stop asking questions and just buy it!! Or someone else might buy it out from under ya!!:w :D

The car has been for sale for a bit now. And if someone else buys it, then it wasn't the car for me (and it still may not be). There'll always be another one for sale, maybe with an Aerobody. ;)

Oh, I'd mentioned before about some McGard product. Apparently it is wheel locks. Not a bad idea on those Dymags. :) And yeah, Chris, that pic is not great. I listed my 1987 on Autotrader. You send them a fairly decent sized pict, they make it small for the thumbnail, then they blow the thumbnail up for the larger pict. They don't use the original. So the blowup is always this horribly pixelated inflation of the thumbnail.

Still waiting to hear back about Saturday. :)
McGuard actually made the center lock for the factory 17" Corvette wheels - which Dymags utilize the same center cap and lock -

When you are ready to go look at the car, I am sure your list of questions will multiply - Good luck :v :m

IN 1990 dymags still had the stock corvette center caps with the locks.

Aurora - Turbocat is correct - in fact, the Dymags were used through mid-91 and still had the same centercaps as the 88/89 17" Corvette wheels - Paperwork would be the same as those cars I imagine unless, they added more wheel locks to them from the Mcguard company...

Any more news on the car?? :m

Gotcha ;)

here is what the wheel locks (from Bowling Green) look like from the 88/89 cars & used w/ the Dymags as well -
the 1990 center caps just "popped in" - no locks on those (on the Corvette)

They are with one exception. The bolts that are used with the Dymags are a bit shorter than those shown in this picture.
