Replaced the cat on my vette and it died on the high on the way home from the shop. I took it back to the shop that put the cat on and they said it was fine and did a scan. The code was a "16" which is opti spark. I bought a new acdelco opti and installed it. There was no start. So I ran a check and found that the ignition control module was not responding. Replaced it and it is responding but no start. I check the fuel pressure it was at 40+ psi. I check for pulse in the injectors and they pulse. Not I had a code 42, which is an Electronic Spark Timing Circuit (EST). I was told that my ecm might be bad so I bought a reman acdelc and had it flashed with my vin. tries starting it, once it again it just turns over in a sluggish manner and pops and cracks. What can I look for next? I am stumped.

Check your coil. If your ICM went bad, it could have taken your coil with it, resulting in a crank, no-start condition. Mine did the same thing.

I replaced the coil and ICM and the car started right up. No problems since.

Waiting to hear what fixes your problem.
