HI,

I have had information that seems to conflict about replacing the antenna mast.

One says you have to take l/r Quarter and interior coverings to get to the antenna.

The other says it is a 5 minute job to do just the mast and pull cable.

My motor (by sound) continues to work, but the antenna does not go down. I assume it is because the plastic pull chain is stripped or broken and a new "mast only" should fix it.

Which method is more correct?

Any feedback is appreciated!

I replaced the antenna in my 1990 convertible a couple months ago. I would estimate it was a 2-hour job (but I am no mechanic).
I checked out with many on this site about methods to replace it and eventually did it this way:

1. jack up left side of car
2. remove left rear wheel
3. remove plastic inner wheel well
4. lay on ground and reach up between rear quarter and fuel tank
5. job was fairly easy

I also understand that you can do it this way (but it was not the way I chose):

1. remove rear license plate
2. remove backup light housing
3. remove inner tail light housing
4. remove outer tail light housing
5. reach through outer tail light housing to power antenna

good luck
