Hey- just got my 1st Vette- 2000 Black on Black Coupe. Pics to follow. All is great w/ a few small problems:

- Directionals on occasion do not work. Dealer said he has to to replace the Hazard switch- which requires removal of the dashboard - any thoughts out there ?? Said he will provide labor if i pay for switch ($50). Not in warranty (?)

- Air noise coming from rear cargo area. Maybe i'm just used to my old Acura but it seems like theres a lot of air leaks.

Any info would be appreciated

Pete - Welcome!

Congrats on your first C5! Hopefully someone will come along soon with answers or suggestions for you.

I second that CONGRATS on your first Vette ! :upthumbs
Air noise coming from rear cargo area could be just the sound that your not used to hearing. keep in mind that you cannot and should not compare the C5 to your old Acura.
:duh

I'm sure that you will be able to find another Vette person that will take you for a quick spin in thier Vette so that you have something to compare. Most of us are perty friendly.... and If thay don't pan out might I suggest a "quick fix" that works in almost any car ?

That big open area behind you in a C5 acts as a gr8 sound amplifier, plus the tires contribute a lot, too depending on the road surface. Despite that a C5 is a superb hi-po sports car; enjoy!! BTW, compared to my C4s, a C5 is much quieter overall: very few squeaks, groans and rattles! However, compared to my Accord V6 coupe my C5 does "sing" a lot, but mostly out her quad exhaust tips! DFO :)

Congrats :beer!!!

I just got my first vette 2 weeks ago. Such a great experience. Enjoy and get us some pics.

Congrats on your first Vette. :upthumbs A C5 is next on my list, and hopefully, I can keep my C4 also. I know you will enjoy it:w

Welcom aboard :pat

And that hazzard switch does go, it affects other things (sorry, not a mechanic, just remember posts about it). No biggie though, just do a search on the forum (click search on top of page on right, and enter hazzard switch).

Happy motoring

Pete,
First of all, Congratulations on your Y2K Coupe! That's excellent news, and welcome to the world of the perma-grin when you drive!

Regarding the hazard switch, I think Jistari's comments are correct: there's in inter-relation between that switch and several others that are linked to it. If you'd like a technical explanation, you might send our resident Corvette Service Professional, C4C5Specialist, a PM with your questions.

Once again, great find and great color! Don't forget to wave.

I thought the same thing when I bought my C5. I think this is normal for this car. There are sound deadening materials available on the aftermarket that address the issue. Do a search.
good luck

I dumped a 55 gallon drum of styro peanuts in the back to suck up the road noise.

Works fine. :)

Just don't open the windows above ten miles an hour. ;LOL

If it is the hazard switch, I'd say that $50 is a cheap fix. However, I might question why the dealer will pay the labor?? Did you buy it from him? If so, that might still be under his used car warranty rather than the original GM warranty.

P.S. Welcome to the wonderful world of Corvettes...and to the Corvette Action Center!!
