Does anyone have info on the 2006 C6? It's now just about six months until production begins on the second year of the C6. I understand that GM extended the build of the '05 by a couple of months to the end of summer. Still, the changes for the base '06 must be set by now.....when will they be released? Of course, we've seen the '06 Z06 but don't know which, if any, of the changes on it will extend to the base model.

It seems that GM is doing a better job of controlling info about the '06 model than they did with the Z06 intro. There is just no information to be found about the '06 base model. It is interesting that they decided to push out the intro of the '06 model year. Could it be that they are tooling up some significant changes from '05 or is it just a marketing strategy?

HI there,
Information is available to the service technician who needs to be trained on the repair of the car.
Proof is the information already in service information on the 6L80-E automatic that will be coming to Corvette.
There are also a few other things in the works as well.
Public release of technical information will most likely start in June.

that's interesting. I notice a separate option for the front license plate. I wonder what "LT" and "LZ" packages are?

My impression is they are equivalent to the current 1Sx packages.

1LT=1SX
2LT=1SA
3LT=1SB

Kinda makes sense, as there is no 1LT package on the vert.

fdxpilot/ Thanks for the info. The 6 speed auto trans is very interesting on the 2006 Vert. I see no auto trans on the 2006 Z06. Other performance cars have a version of auto trans, like tiptronic, F1 cars have semi-auto trans. Is there NO demand for one in a Corvette? Just some random thoughts.

HI there,
Consider this, everytime you pair a different transmission with an engine, you MUST obtain EPA emissions compliance certification. I, personally, believe that it is a cost only reason. It costs alot to certify a driveline for compliance.
This is the reason why there was NO LT4 automatic, or LT1 stick shift in 1996.

Thanks for the insight c4c5. I like the thingee banging its head on the wall. Your point is well made.

I wonder what the 0-60 and qtr mile times will be for the 6 speed auto vs the manual. My bet is that they will be very close. Could the auto be even faster? I may have to rethink my lust for a 6 speed manual. Could be that the 6 speed auto C6 will do a very nice impersonation of a rocket sled......
