Ever since a bought my 2010 gs I've hated the way it shifts.Anyone know of a way to install a shift kit?

What are you hating? The transmission is pretty much computer controlled. You can change performance values/perameters using plug in hand tuners such as Diablo, etc. Beware - changing the program might invalidate warranty, and GM will know if you re-tune..

Sloppy shifting

The trans shifts slow all the time regardless of what rpm you shift. I honestly haven't driven other vettes with the same trans but I imagine they are all like that.I probably should test drive a new one.

I assume the car is still under factory warranty, so take it to the dealer and have them check it out. There may be a computer update flash that addresses the issue. That said, it's probably the engine management system trying to make sure the transmission will last over 100,000 miles. You can still firm the shifts and alter the shiftpoints with a handheld or custom tune.

Trans

It only has 1600 miles so I'll look for a aftermarket computer program. I don't trust taking it to the dealer.I do find it odd that other people don't complain of this problem. In the past I've always had shift kits installed in my cars. I guess I'm spoiled!

What's your problem with the dealer? The diagnosis is done by computer. and you should check for systems updates anyway.

Maybe I should drop it off. I do feel the dealerships are full of trainees though. I did have seat wear at 300 miles and I was told it's under warranty. It won't be a total waste of time. Now that the winter is upon us I can leave it.

sloppy shifts

I have driven a 2011 camaro L99 with a 6 speed auto, and my cruze is a 6 speed auto. The shifts will change with time, honestly I woudn't do anything until at least 5-6k. Then if you don't like the way it shifts take it to the dealer. :w

I've been asking Chevy every time I bring my vette in if there are any new upgrades for the A6 tranny. I'm so sorry I got the A6 over the M6 and, it doesn't get any better with time or mileage. The shifts feel like they are slipping or hesitates under hard acceleration. I would prefer a much more positive feel in both auto and sport modes. I personally feel this tranny would probably be better suited in the Buick line.
Of all the Corvettes I've owned, I thought this was the one I would have in my retirement. The color, options, and ride, addresses all my wants and needs....except for the crappy transmission!
I'm now at a crossroad whether to buy an 09' Z06 (last year for Atomic Orange) or wait and see what the C7 will look like.

The current automatic has been updated. The claim is that it shifts faster than a double clutch stick in the paddle shift mode. See the new Vettes magazine for details.

I did a search and came up empty.

Can you post the link to the article you mentioned.

In short, was it a mechanical change or just reprogramming?

Thanks,
chris

See page 6 of the March issue.

Does anyone have a subscription to Vette that can briefly state if the A6 had mechanical upgrades or software reprogramming.
Thanks,
chris

all software

Thanks, I just finished seeing the video about the software programming changes in the GM Auto News Forum. Basically, it pre-loads the next gear for faster shifting response. :happyanim:

This is how I thought the tranny would shift when I decided on the A6 over the M6. Anyway, I'm willing to pay Chevy whatever ransom they want to reprogram my 08'!

Does anyone know if this program will be available on earlier C6's?

Here's the article. The say there have been no hardware changes.

But, I recently drove a 2012 A6 and was thoroughly unimpressed. I was hoping for something snappier. I could never live with it the way it is. I would try with a shift kit, hoping it would not be as easy for them to detect as changing the programming. If that wasn't enough, I'd say the heck with it and get it reprogrammed. The thought of the A6 with it's sport mode and manual mode sounds enticing but shame on Chervolet for giving us such a bland product. I guess it is a possibility this was a 2011 Vette. When did the new seats come out? Did they come out in 2011 or 2012? It had the new seats.

I have an 04 Supercharged Grand Prix with paddle shifters with shift kit and transmission reprogramming and it feels 100% better than the new Vettes. Now that's a real shame.

GM claims the 2012 is the fastest shifting automatic on the planet in manual mode. It doesn't "bang" shift because the thing has to last 150,000 miles. Mess with that by reprograming and lose you warranty. GM claims faster shifting with the automatic than a dual clutch - some racers agree.
