I searched for information with no luck before writing this post. I have a 65 Stingray with only the ignition key. I have been told that a Chevy dealer could provide me with a new key if I gave the VIN number. The Chevy dealer told me that they only go back to the 1990's with old key specs, and then they told me to get the key code off of the door lock on the passenger side. Now I have a couple of questions;
1) Is anyone here familiar with the idea that they only keep key info back to the '90's?
2) If in fact the key info is on the door lock, is it on the passenger side or drivers side?
3) Do you think I would be ahead of the game to just pay a locksmith?
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
