:confused....I am a bit confused, but thats not new....:confused

1978 C3 RPO QBS is shown on the CAC1978 Corvette Production and Performance page as: P255/70R15

In an article by Corvette News of April 79 it is shown as: P225/60R15

On several other pages on the web it is shown as: 255/60R15

OK... Which is correct?? Baby needs new shoes and I want to stay in line with the options available in 78.

Id say the 255 70 15 was stock and the 60 series was optional. I run 255 60 15s on mine

I've got 225-60-15's on mine my old 245-60-15 looked like they would rub so when I changed them we tried on a few sizes on the front. I got away with the 245's for a while but I was afraid of contact with the front part of the wheel well

255/60/R15 on mine. Firestone Indy 500s replacing the tires called Firestone Firehawk SS20s and SS10s I had been using over the last 15 years we've had the 78.
Tires in sig pic are Firehawk SS20s.
Heidi

Go with the 255/60/15....

Thanks everyone!!

I was sorta leaning towards the 255/60's but wanted to get some input from some people that have experience.

Thanks again,

Chris

Input from Digital Corvette

One of the members at Digtal Corvette posted the following response:

QBS:
White Letter SBR Tires, P255/60 R15 ($216.32/18,296)
QGR: White Letter SBR Tires, P255/70 R15 ($51.00/26,203)
QGQ: Black Wall Steel Belted Radial Tires - P225/70R15 (STD/2,277)

Wider 60-series tires became available as a 1978 option and required fender trimming at the Corvette assembly plant for clearance (and GM charged accordingly).

[Ref.: Corvette Black Book, plus personal notes.]

Thanks again,

Chris

Just my .02 worth, but I put 255x60's on the front and 275x60's on the rears of my '72, '73 and '80 cars. The closest I've come to rubbing is the back ones on my '72 but that's because of placement of the mufflers. Also I should add, that it's true, you DO turn into your Father! Good luck, Mark
