I recently "repaired my speedometer with a new lower cable from ecklers and a NAPA tranducer (Wed May14) today (sunday 18) I drove the car about 25 miles and the speedo died again.

The cruise was working before the speedo died and I tried it after the speedo went out and it would not work. From this I deduced that it must be the NAPA transducer.

Anyone have similar experiences please respond, with your experiences.

Thanks to all C3 drivers

Any thoughts on getting rid of this system?

It seems to be problematic, and it is not attractive looking either (the transducer part).

It seems to me if it is removed, and the speedo bypassed as if the car did not have cruise, then you could get an aftermarket cruise control and get it all hooked up.

thanks for the reply

the second transducer from NAPA is working for now.
my cruise is working good as well. if i could have bypassed the transdcer i would have. speedometer cables should go straight from the trans to the speedo. like my 70 chevy pickup.:D

If you know something about bypassing the transducer please pass it along if you are willing.

Thanks

I was recently advised...

...to just buy a longer cable and bypass the transducer altogether.
But I was given no directions.

long cable

i had thought of that very idea, but i did not know if such a cable existed - maybe from another model year?

i drove my vette to work today and the cruise worked properly after getting a second napa transducer. my normal commute car does not have cruise so it was nice to have it and it work correctly:Steer

69 myway story

that is a great story and great documentation on your car. i really like the fact that you done the car your way and not back to factory specs. great gesture with taking the hood back to the girl. paint was definitely 70's period perfect. wonder if any herbal medication was practiced with that paint job?

car looks great, is the fiero a daily driver and if so how dependable? heard a lot of negative stuff about them.
