I have a 79 Corvette with a 350 tranny that has recently started to slam into reverse gear. Is there an easy fix for this, or am I looking at a new or rebuilt tranny in the future?? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers

Have you checked line pressures?

make sure the vacumline to the modulator is not cracked or broken that will cause a problem Steve

when's the last time you changed your tranny filter?? also is your idle rpm under 1000?? checking the vac lines to the modulator is always a good idea as stated.

Is it possible the tranny is fine but the u-joint(s) or rear end is shot? I had a similar problem a few years ago and it turned out to be a bad u-joint on the half shaft (actually two bad u joints). They never made a noise or acted poorly when in any of the forward gears but every time I put it in reverse there was a loud bang and a delay in movement.

Good luck

A loose or broken tranny mount will cause the tranny to "buck". I'd check that first.
