81 Gear Shift

Any body know how to get that turn ball off the gear shifter?????? I found that the chrome button unscrews but the ball wont come off. I am trying to change out the shifter leather boot but I don't want to take the whole console out to do it. Got any ideas?

To unscrew the ball, turn the ball counterclockwise. You're may have the adhesive they put at the factory, but it should come-out.

Hi Gambit like Gerry lP says counterclock wise, and use large twelve inch,
adjustable channel lock pliars, just rap a old towl, or piece of leather aroung
knob first. it will come, regards wayne.
