I wish someone would tell me why a horn button for the 84-85 vettes are sooooo expensive? Ecklers have them for $114...use to be 104. Seems like the price goes up the longer I wait to order one! If someone has some alternate sites or suggestions, I'd appreciate them. :D Vettes Rule...

I just viewed one on ebay for a few bucks. Don't know if you want a new one, just a thought.

JonM, thanks for the heads up on the price break...I have a few other leads that reflect a more bargin price. Course I'll be careful with my choice of vendors. Happy Holidays & don't forget to wave...

This one's at GMpartsdirect.com

GM PART # 9768586
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $114.22
OUR PRICE: $65
DESCRIPTION: CAP
Is that for the cap & emblem or for just the cap????

This company is a pretty reliable source for GM parts but not having ordered this item you'd have to e-mail em and ask. Be sure to ask if the metal contact plate is also inside the cap. If you order from Corvette Salavage.com you'd be sure of getting the correct part, plate, emblem and all but I don't know what the price would be.

Hey Gang, I sent my order in yesterday to Corvette Salvage...they will respond next week with a price and whether they have one or not. The cap has the emblem...thanks for all the help. Just returned from a little a.m. spin...the weather down here is beautiful and great for a ride. My baby purred like a kitten...it was enjoyeable. I'll start on my winter project after the holidays...think I'm going to replace all the bushings, lower ball joints & change the fluids. Be ready to roll come spring. Later...

J&D Corvette in Bellflower, CA is not huge, but has a decent supply of new and used Corvette parts. I have found Jaime (hy-mee) to be very knowledgeable and a good guy, if busy.

Let me play devils advocate here...buying a used cap...you still have a 20 year old part…the metal and plastic parts are fatigued and soon you will be back in the same boat with a little less money in your pocket. .02

Personally, I would just buy a new one.

Quick update on status of horn button for my 85...thanks for all the advice. I went with magmotor's suggestion on gmpartsdirect...it'll be 78.12 including S&H...not too bad for a new button. JonM made a good point about getting a used one and still having a 19 year old button. Corvette salvage out of MS had one for 40 with a 30 day guarantee. For a few extra bucks I opted for the new one. All in all I appreciate all the assistance I received. Thanks to all and happy holidays...oh, don't forget those winter projects that should start after the 1st.

FWIW...GMpartsDirect

Just had my first expereince with these folks, which was okay. I did find, however, that while their prices are quite good on GM parts, they're so-so on others, like the vibration dampener for my old Suburban, compared with the local small-but-excellent parts store. You guys remember them; they have some expertise and lack the numbnutz who give you the wrong part even WITH a dummyproof computer resource.
