882 to 194XL dash bulb replacement

I finally had enough nerve to replace the dash sockets and lamps in my 1986. The entire job took about 2-1/2 hours, and was not all that tough. It was stated that the 194's would not be as bright as the 882's, but I would disagree after doing the swap. If anyone is debating making the change, do it; it isn't that bad, and if you buy the 194XL (extra life from Walmart) you will not have to worry about replacment for about 5,000 hours or about 208 days of continous on time. Plus they are cheap.. :J

882 to 194xl dash lamps

Corvette Central list the part #664005 which is the bulb and new socket good through 1984 - 1988. Check out Corvette Central's stuff, I really like this outfit. I have not had any problems with them and they seem to be slightly cheaper than Mid America Designs, Ecklers, and Corvette America.
