94 vette in gurnee il.

i have found what appears to be the perfect 1994 6 speed vette in gurnee il. i'm planning on flying into milwaukee at the end of the week and driving it back to the washington d.c area.

i'm wondering if there's anyone on this forum in the area of gurnee il, that would be willing to check out the car for me. it'd be nice to have a little piece of mind from a corvette person. i'd be willing to compensate for time and gas.

I think Gunee is near Chicago and if I remember correctly, that's Edmond stomping grounds, so I volunteer Edmond for the job. What do u say Edmond, r u up for the adventure?

Dang! I was actually out in Gurnee a couple weeks ago. It's a bit west of Waukegan and north of Chicago off 94. Where Great America is. I've got family out there that might be willing to take a look, but none of them are Vette folks - more BMW and Lexus.

If you do buy it, you'll have a really nice trip back, driving the PA turnpike in the fall.

If you go on a weekday, there's a Vette-only dealership just north of Highland Park on southbound 41 (Skokie Hwy) either just north or just south of Half Day Rd. If they're open it's worth a stop just to see the classic ones they're selling - but they might also look yours over. Darned if I can remember the name of it, though.

Yes, I could do that. I'm not that far away from Gurnee. The only problem is that I'm not very experienced with 6 speeds.

But Jeff, the moderator, is also in the area and I believe that Jeff has a 6 speed.

But if you feel comfortable enough for me to check it out, I'll do it.

It will be two weeks on Monday. It took me so long because I went shopping around and had to wait a pay day for the money. I shopped around at the local Firestone and Goodyear dealerships, they were real anal about their prices and even said that they'd charge me extra if I bought from Tire Rack and had them install the tires! They even told me that Tire Rack has good prices so go buy from them! Needless to say, I'm not bringing any of my business back to those guys.

I finally decided on the Firestone SZ50's, got all four for $775 including shipping. They'll be here on Monday. If I don't get the tires installed on Monday, I'll just take my Camry for the trip up north. If I do get them installed on Monday, I'll go on Tuesday.

Tom has yet to call me so I just have to wait for his call.

I even contemplated Pep Boys' tires, but didn't really feel comfortable with it for whatever reason.

I did find an installer about 5 miles away who was recommended by the Rack. I called the guy, talked to him and got a good vibe from him.
