As I'd mentioned, it will be at least a year before I'm in the market for one, but I think at this point I'd be interested in a 1990-91 B2K with Aerobody. I had a Corvette with the digital dash, and while it is pretty neat (in spite of magazines hating it) I think I'd like to get the newer dash and newer steering wheel of the later C4's. I also want the 6-speed, as the 4+3 is a bit of a pain. All the maintenance of an automatic combined with all the maintenance of a manual... ;)

So, I had a couple of questions that I bet you all can answer in your sleep.

- Was the narrow black body molding replaced with color-matched wide molding on the 1991 Aerobody, or was the narrow molding still used?

- Was the Z5G package on all B2K cars these years? Could you have it with the FX3 suspension, or in 1991 the Z07 suspension? I like the power steering cooler, oil cooler, and such. :)

- The Z5G package mentions freer mufflers. Are these from Callaway? Or part of the GM Z51 package? My 1987 Z51 didn't have any different mufflers. Did Callaway use the stock exhaust at all? I just figured the whole thing was different, but I suppose it could have been stock from the cat or so back.

I have a Callaway body kit and I was wondering about the trim as well. Now I know.
The trim is molded into the body kits parts. which means it is fiberglass, and nothing like the stock trim except for appearence. this also means if you have a red car and want black trim, it has to be painted black seperate. This trim piece is still the narrow style on the aerobody. not the wide style as on the 91-96's

Although... I have to go to my extrenal hard drive to see... I think I may have a pic of a greem aerobody with wide moulding. hmm....

I dont really know much about your other questions as they regard callaway putting stuff on certain models.

I have a few answers that might help... :m

The Callaway Automatic is a Turbo 400 w/ external overdrive, you would not have issues with that one - Just mentioned as an FYI...

AeroBody moldings are just that, molded into the AeroBody - they are Callaway specific and you cannot change them as they are part of the mold - The door caps for example, bolt right through the old holes from the moldings once you remove your stock rub strip.
Callaway finished them in Black on the majority of their cars.

Z5G was triggered by the RPO B2K and SHOULD be on ALL B2K's (it was brought to my attention that there may be two or more cars out there w/ small front brakes - J55 large brakes were part of that SEO Z5G and should have been in place)
Power Steering cooler is part of the package, Suspension options such as Z07, Z51, etc could be ordered like any other option just about...

Callaway fitted their own specific cats and changed the piping off them, the rear "Y" Pipe is standard issue Corvette w/ the free flow (dual outlets both function on each side) Corvette mufllers w/ Callaway specific tips.
Do NOT confuse Z51 w/ Z5G, they are totally different and you may find not many Callaways you come across will have Z51...
I hope this helps :w :m

Right, I realize the Z5G and Z51 are not the same package, but doesn't the Z5G have basically the Z51 hardware like the power steering cooler, oil cooler, etc? Ideally I think the FX3 or Z07 suspension would be the coolest to have. Maybe if folks shelled out for the B2K and aerobody, they'd have shelled out for the Z07 package. The Z07 is a pretty rare and cool option. That'd really be something. :upthumbs

I also wanted to say Thanks! to all of you. *89x2*, you've posted a lot of very useful info. I've been reading back through a lot of threads and you know a lot about each Callaway produced. And there are many other very knowledgable people here. But the best part is, is that everyone is very friendly and warm. It's a great forum and is very approachable. I don't even own a Corvette, let alone a Callaway (let alone a Chevy) and you all have been very helpful and nice. It's a great group you all have, and some great cars you all own! :beer :w

If you don't have any plans for any of the days August 27 thru the 29th why don't you come to Carlisle. You'll get your fill of Callaway's and Corvettes :w
