On Friday night, while I was changing the Opti in my driveway, My friends car, 1995 Ford Countor, was parked half in the street and half on my sidewalk. I live on a very narrow street, on a bend in the road. My vette usually sits under the car port, but I was working on it in the drive way for more room and lighting. I left my car in the driveway overnight, I hate doing that. Around 5:00 am I hear tires squeeling and then a loud BOOM. I look out my window and the Ford is gone. I run out side and I see a Silver Olds in the middle of the street all pucked up. I still do not see the Ford. As I run to the olds, I catch a glimpse of a shiny object out of the corner of my eye. I look down the street in the trees and there is the Ford across the street in the woods. The driver of the Olds is okay, but very drunk. I walk down to the Ford and it is destroyed. The driver of the Olds had hit the Ford at about 80 mph in a residential area were the limit was 25 mph. The Olds knocked the Ford 176' from where it was parked. The only thing keeping the Ford from going farther was the tree it hit hard enough to dent the left rear bumper. The drive of the Olds blew a .15, 30 min after the accident. When the sun came out, I walked down the street to see the skid marks. I looked at the skid marks and they were pointing directly to my Vette. If the Ford had not been parked there the Olds would have destroyed my Vette. So after all of these years of bashing Fords, I have a new respect for them. THEY MAKE GREAT ROAD BLOCKS!!

good for you, youve finally answered that question, "whats a ford good for" well now we know, their good to park between the vette and oncoming traffic as a barrier! see all is not lost, your research might even help other vette owners. btw when you get the insurance money for the deceased ford perhaps a larger ford like a 1970 lincoln parked between traffic and the vette might work even better (continueing the research you know):D

My friends first response was "Yes I can finally get a new car", the next response was can I park my wifes Dodge in front of your house too?"

'bout time Ford made a car good for something!:L

Seriously though, good thing no kids were in the street and no one was hurt. I don't know if you guys heard, but a few weeks ago, these two drunk drivers plowed into a group of people here in Chicago. The mob dragged them out of their van and beat them to death.

I do remember hearing about that. The good thing, other than hitting the Ford, was that it was 5:00 A.M. and not 5:00 P.M.

A similar thing happened in my mom's community a few years back - guy driving drunk down the main road nkocked the *&(%#$ out of a pickup sitting parked by the curb around 3 am. However, he didn't bother to stop. What makes this topical is that the owner of the pickup, being woken by the crash and seeing the guy not stopping, hopped into his Vette and pursued him to his house (yes, the drunk guy, being chased by a very irate person, drove HOME). The Vette was parked in the driveway and was more than likely out of harm's way to begin with. And oddly enough, all three vehicles in this event were Chevys.

I don't know what's crazier, the accident or you working at 5:00 am in the morning!:L Don't get me wrong, I love my Vette' and all but I do need my :z
