Has anyone taken the time to restore their A.I.R pump?

What kind of cost did you incur and were the parts available?

I tried once to get it opened, but the bolts wouldn't move so I didn't go any further b/c I didn't want to break them...it doesn't make any noise when it's running so I decided to leave it alone..

Mine froze after idling for over an hour in a big traffic jam (it was the middle of summer, and I had the A-C runing).

So I replaced it.

Opened it and took everything out. Very intresting to see on the inside and almost a shame to distroy the bearings etc. But now I have a original looking airpomp with no internals :)

Do the google thing. There are a couple of vendors advertizing in the NCRS Driveline magazine who restore them for judging purposes. If you're not concerned with judging, you can clean up what you have and go with it.

:)

I know when my son had "our" 81 registered in Denver he was turned away from the inspection station because he didn't have one. He ended up buying one and having the once removed pipes (P.O.) welded back on.
