A used car dealer put this.......

When we picked up the Pontiac van in December the German Dealer had stuck his OPEL sticker on the back door. :mad When I went through the roof he told me that it was his right to put the sticker on every car that he sold to which I replied that it was my right not to buy a car from him. Then standing in front of him I called GM Europe on the cell phone and ask for the phone # of other Dealers close by. The first one I called agreed to deliver a van to me that day with NO sticker.:upthumbs The idiot in front of me was still insisting that we take the van he had prepared for us with his sticker on it.:(

My wife was laughing so hard at my fake German that she almost wet herself.
The Dealer said ¨You VILL SAKE DIS BAN…ZE ORDERED DE BAN ZE MOOST SAKE IT¨
I replied ¨I VILLINZE SNOT SAKING ZOO BAN… Mine Orders hafe changed… Orders Vitch Moost ve Followed at All Times…. Don’t mention ze vor.¨ and goose stepped out of the showroom.
I know, I know that was as childish as a 7 year old but at the moment it was funny.:L
The second dealer gave us great service and has emailed us 2 times to be sure that we are happy with the Pontiac.

Out here in California this crap is against the law....... The only advertising for the dealerships (new and used) is a license plate frame which is removed at time of purchase. Wow California actually is doing something right...... Shows that there is always an exception.

i have purchased two c5's. the one dealer had the license plate frame, the other put his sticky-back logo on the plastic panel at the base of the windshield under the hood - i popped it right off. if that NJ space cadet dealer had any brains, he would be using the same type sticky-back logo plate. geeze - some people and some people's kids -

That riveted dealer tag is UNBELIEVABLE. :ugh :(

:L :L I must have a 7 year old sense of humor because that's still funny as hell. "Goose stepped out of the showroom" ;LOL

Some places do understand

Warren, we bought our cars at the same place. When I picked out my coupe I noticed ALL the vettes there had the dealer's name in those vinyl letters stuck on the rear bumper. I peeled mine off when I got home, but I also had the dealers plate on the car. You know, the one with the dealer's logo on it. Simple enough to remove too.

Tammy, I also must have a 7 year old's seense of humor as I laughed while reading SpanishVette's post!!!:L Kudo's to SpanishVette, though. I would have done the same thing.

This photo gave me chest pains!!!

If a dealer did that to a car I had purchased, I would be well beyond pi@$ed off.

I just talked to my friend in Minnesota yesterday. She was pulled over yesterday morning on her way to work. She still has the dealer license plate frame from when she lived in Illinois on her car. The cop told her that having a frame like that is illegal.

Yes, I agree...when I had mine delivered from Kerbecks last summer, I asked that all of the protective body plastic still be left on the body just as it was put on at Bowling Green...and the Vette not be prepped, washed or waxed...I think they got the hint...so they put 2 Kerbeck license plate surrounds in a package in the trunk.....They even took an 8x10 glossy picture of the salesman standing next to the Vette with the keys in his hand... in front of Kerbecks showroom window...The only thing they did was do the required PDI(point of delivery inspection) to make sure all of the systems worked and fill the tank with premium gas:L ...that place is GREAT...:upthumbs

I am also thinking that any jerk that would rivit a plate to the bumper of a Vette looks like this...:L

When I buy a car, I have them put in the sales agreement that there will be no decals or other dealership nameplates on the car. I make them understand that I will not accept the car if they disregard this. So far, they've never had an issue with my request. So, if that was on the car when I examined it before delivery, it wouldn't be my car.
do thw same thing too Rap!

I bought mine from a used car dealer but he worked out of his home and 85% of his buisness was vettes. (The rest of the time he located exoctics for dealers) so i got avery low price. When I got there he had the car looking immaculate and the only thing extra I got was the temporary plates taped to the back of the window. He was great and out of NJ. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a vette and he would def be a good replacement to that other NJ dealer.

I thought this was just an Eastern/Midwest thing. Didn't know it was unlawful here in CA... thank goodness.:eyerole

Not only would I be ****ed

But if I had already paid for the car, I would have the dealer arrested for vandalizm. If I had not, I would refuse the car and walk.

I suspect that that stop was bogus

Maybe, maybe not. I thought the same thing too until i re-read the post a couple of times and realized that in the post the Officer states "having a frame like that is illegal." I have a feeling the frame was blocking/obstructing the plate number or even the wording of the state. I know in some states (if not most) the plate has to be clearly visible.

Just my 2 cents,

Chris

That's what I think. Every state is different in their laws.

But she is a very attractive blond woman.:D

Prolly right - but I would wonder why a dealer would use a surround that could be construed as illegal? Just a thought.

We have that law in NY about the plates. In fact at one point the city was so ridiculous as to ticket people even if the numbers were fully viewable, but they have since backed down from that.

I wouldn't buy a car from them. I always take ALL dealer crap right off. It looks stupid, and I don't advertize for anyone, ESPECIALLY car dealerships!!!!

spanishvetts -- correct me if i'm wrong, but this sounds like an homage to "fawlty towers". great reference. :L

when we bought my wife's volvo last year, i tried to remove the dealer sticker but the wife wouldn't let me...she likes the way it looks (it's silver and matches the car).:confused
