AC display goes crazy when first starting up

My AC display goes wacky when I first start my car. Then I looses the display from time to time....Any thoughts.

No fix, But my 96 has to run a while before the climate controls will even respond.

Normally I can start her up and hit Auto.
but no control over temp or speed , etc.
After driving a bit, control returns just fine.

Sure its something to do with the vaccum lines.
(or worse)

I know exactly what you mean. My '87 has been doing that once in a while for the last 5 or 6 years. The display returns to normal if I press one of the climate control buttons.
I used to worry about it but I've long since chalked it up to Chevy gremlins.

My display does the same thing once in a while. If I press any button, it finds its mind again. I was told (I printed the instructions) by another member that this is caused by the edge connectors needing cleaning. I intend to give it a try as it does not seem like a difficult project.

You can by contact cleaner at Radio Shack.

i agree.... the fam's 89 used to do that... what it turned out to be was dirty contacts... i took everything apart that i could and cleaned it all up using contact cleaner and rubbing alcohol....

you are right Bonnell, it was not too difficult at all...
