My '99 has been losing refrigerant for a couple of years and needed to be topped up by my mechanic every few months ($100 each time), since we can't buy cans of R134 in Canada.
I used 1 six oz can of Red Tek 12A and 1 can of Red Tek Leak Stop to condition the seals, and I'm already getting cooler air than I have had for a couple of years. I need to inject anothe 6 oz can to make the air really cold. I'll do that this week.
This stuff comes in a kit that's easy to use and is not harmful to the ozone. It might be more flamable (propane/butane mix) than R134, but a lot more user friendly for us DIY guys.
