What's up folks?
A couple of days ago I got a "service active handling" message, also a "active handling warming" message while driving home from work. I checked the codes: C1286 H and C1287 H. They are Steering Sensor Bias Malfunction and Steering Sensor Rate Malfunction, respectively.
Has anyone seen these codes? Is this a quick fix or something I need to let the dealer do?
I can't get an appointment for two weeks but the dealership wanted me to leave my car with them until they can get to it.
No thanky Spanky. I would be too p!ssed to if I saw my car rolling down the street without me in it.
Thanks for any input.
BTW, 2000 hardtop, MN6. And would it hurt my car to drive it in this condition?

HI there,
No, no harm will come to your car, although, you will NOT have active handling when this code sets.
You will most likely need a steering wheel position sensor.

Hello Specialist,
I did notice today that my steering wheel was slightly off center.
Thanks for the heads up.
