is there anyway to permantley disable the abs system on a 88"? just wondering.

There's probably a fuse you can pull but -
why would you want to do that?

First check what else will be affected if you pull the fuse. Sometimes a fuse affects other circuits. You don't want something else to stop working. Anyway, in the storage compartment behind the driver's seat, if you pull up the tray, there is a piece of insulation which can also be pulled out. Then you will see the the ABS pump and the wires that connect it to the elctronic module. I think they can be disconnected safely. In my case I took out the whole assembly because of a faulty ABS pump, which was quoted by a Chevy parts distributor at $1,913. I refused to pay that kind of money and had a mechanic remove it and a "distribution block" installed. The brake lines connect to that part and now I have regular brakes. Sometimes it's scary when I hit the brakes hard in slippery roads. :D

Interesting Alfonso Gomez, I hate ABS, I'm like putting the car where and how I want it, predictably, under my own control. Old School I guess:bash

Yep, I'm old school. The only electronics I desire in a car is the computer for the ignition/fuel injection systems. The rest, like ABS, Traction Control, electronic shock absorbers and stuff like that only complicates matters when they start malfunctioning. I have a friend that owns a 2001 Z06 and everytime he mashes the gas pedal in first gear and the wheels start spinning, the traction control takes over and the engine revs drop like crazy. THAT'S NO FUN:r Many years ago I had a 1979 Duster with a 340 engine, a performance cam & shaved heads. It was automatic and when I mashed the gas during take-off it left the line like a rocket in a cloud of tire smoke. Now..THAT WAS FUN:upthumbs :_rock I really amazed traffic-light observers.;LOL ;LOL ;LOL
