Any one hear of a 70 LS6 Vette

Well what was the verdict on this car? No replies on this has me wondering what happened? Anyone know?

I'm thinking it's all a hoax...
Just like a corvette delivered in Primer Grey.....

{Caution: Beware of Troll}

Darren and I have not been able to get together. He has told me that he has taken some pix of some of the things that were suggested, but hasn't had a chance to get them posted. It's a nice long weekend and the weather is perfect. So maybe we'll have a chance to get together, or Darren might have a chance to post what he's got.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Actually Piet, the pimer Corvettes are real. Our own Nut has a documented '81. I have personally seen one also. When I worked at DeHaven Chevrolet(Ft. Wayne IN) in the parts dept in the '70s we got one in. It was 1976 or 1977. It was primer grey and had silver bumpers, L82, 4 speed, black leather. Sat in the showroom right in front of the parts counter fo a couple days until it was delivered so nothing would get on the primer. Then it went bact to the body shop for black laquer.

Rob,
Has stated numerous times, please provide "Facts" when posting here at CACC esp. when something may appear out of order. I believe "almost" everyone here at CAC was putting their best foot forward to help unravel this mystery of the LS6. As a matter of FACT a few of the "Big Guns" from NCRS and Corvette Knowlegable people participated to help get the facts and to help a fellow member.

As for the "Primer" factory delivered 1981..

Bob Williams (Nut) has provided the "ORIGINAL" build order. He found it on the top of the gas tank! I have seen it! It has been authenticated by Mike Antonick. I'm sure you know who he is ... but just incase your corvette knowledge is a little lacking.. Mike Publishes the "Corvette Black Book" if you will go to page 77 and I quote: "At least one primer 1981 model has been documented, a St. Louis build, with "SPEC" trim tag.

In search of the truth, sometimes is stranger than fiction ;) I appreciate your skeptisum, but I deplore your attitude!

I want to make something perfectly clear here:

1. If you do not have something constructive to add to this thread or any other thread for that matter, then keep your fingers off the keyboard.

There is no need to accuse anyone of being a troll. I was hoping that this thread would lead to some facts being exposed either good, or bad. I don't want this thread or any others hijacked (sidetracked by unnecessary comments and accusations which steer the topic of the thread away from its original intent)

If you suspect that someone is "trolling" report the offender to a Forum Moderator.

It seems to me that it was a joke going array...but Bud and Tom's comments bring a good point to our forum.

Not necessarily. Here is my viewpoint on this:

Here are the facts:

1. We have a member that claims he may own a 1970 LS6 factory Corvette.

2. Based upon factorial publication, the LS6 engine was not offered to the public, in a Corvette until 1971.

3. It has been well known that older Corvettes left the factory with some odd ball options and color combinations (COPO Corvettes, Factory Primer Corvettes, etc.)

4. It's common knowledge that some people try to pass off fake Corvettes as authentic in order to make a quick financial killing.

5. Some of us are very busy in our careers and lead extremely hectic lives - which may be the reason why the owner has not been able to spend more time moving in a direction to further authenticity.

The direction that this thread was heading in was towards further enlightenment as to whether or not this truly was a very unique, and genuine production Corvette. A few members started to make unfair accusations in my opinion.

In regards to whether or not this is an authentic 1970, LS6 Corvette, I'm not saying it is, and I"m not saying it isn't; and the chances of it being authentic are unlikely, but NOT out of the realm of possibility.

As others have mentioned, further investigation, documentation and authentication are needed before the authenticity of this Corvette can be established.

When a topic like this comes up, instead of having members jump on the "troll-bandwagon", I'd rather see members that are knowledgeable within the respective field, post and offer help and insight in order to bring knowledge and clarity to the thread in question. If the owner or thread starter wishes to accept that help, or deny it, that is his/her own decision.

In a nutshell, I'd rather reserve judgement until all the facts have been clearly laid out on the table.

I would like to offer my apologies.

My previous post was NOT an attempt to ridicule, embarrass, or offend anyone on this forum.
NOR am I in any way try to discredit any information given.

I figured that since we have someone who has experience try to validate a unique corvette, he could offer some input.

The post was meant in the most good natured way.

So as to not side track this thread, please feel free to Private message me with any further comments.
(Please don't post here)

Again, my apologies

-Peter

Here's a copy of the email I received today!

Rick,

Taking pictures of the car today. Have been working on the car day and night. Had LeeVettes look at everything and they claim the car is original. Nothing was ever touched. I found build sheet under the front dash. Not in great condition. Motor runs awsome. Had to replace shifter and clutch and also rear main but other than that she runs great. Working on rear suspension this week. Cleaned up interior and looks like new.

I'll send pictures over to you.

Darren

I'm a little disappointed here guys.......

I'm a relative new Corvette fanatic compared to most of the members here but answer me this.......why hasn't one of our members gone over to take pics of Darren's Shark to help verify its' authenticity. :confused

Maybe I'm an optimist here, but we're talking about SINGLE unique car from a 50 year tradition. An early big block Shark to boot. A car that has never been documented to exist.

:j
Hell, I'd drive across the state to check out a car like this even if the chances are slim that it turns out to be the real deal.

Good point. I live very close but, I don't have Darrens address. All I have is his cell number, and unless he gives me a call and tells me to come over, I'm just an observer like you. As stated before, I have offered to photo the car and document all of the information to validate its possibility.
Just waiting for the call.

Rick

I don't know about the rest of you, but......

This is driving my CRAZY, on one hand I want to believe this be true and see the evidence. On the other hand I wonder why there is so much secrecy around this..

If this were my car, I'd try to find a current expert and PAY to have them confirm or deny the authenticity of this car.. The suspense is absolutely killing me..

I sure hope we hear something soon, one way or the other..

If for one miniute I thought I possibly had a rare $100,000+ car I would have had it documented by now. This is a strange thread but I'll keep with it. Hope it is a 70 LS6.

This would make a fun road trip for me and TZracer. We could stretch Killer's legs out a bit, enjoy some bugs in our teeth, check out the mysterious vette, and get another look at your beautiful 69.

Let's see what he says when he gets back with you.

Chris

Although this may not be one, forums have previously seen some very sophisticated hoaxes that appear to be credible...

I think we will have better luck finding Bigfoot, the Lock Ness Monster, the Yeti or little green aliens from outer space!

Wait, wait, wait, wait!! Where's the outcry? Where's the people defending poor djkls6 from the unconstructive critics?

When Piet said the same thing, he got slammed! Was it because he used the word tr*ll? Or because he goofed on the primer grey vette?

Now, I'm NOT suggesting we slam these guys for their comments -- what I AM suggesting is that we were to hard on poor Piet. IMO, he had a legitimate concern -- a concern now being echoed by others.

Bah! I shouldn't be posting this here (but I stand by my right to post this somewhere -- free speech and all) but this topic doesn't seem to be going anywhere wrt to the 70 LS6 anyway...

I didn't slam him. I asked to to reserve judgement till the facts came out. The facts haven't been revealed. If you want to post inquiries about updates, fine. If you want to speculate and just assume the owner is trying to pass off a fake, there is no need of posting comments like that here, or calling him a troll.
