Any one hear of a 70 LS6 Vette

First, I didn't name names. Second:
If you do not have something constructive to add to this thread or any other thread for that matter, then keep your fingers off the keyboard.
is a slam.
...but I deplore your attitude!
(rare81) is a slam.
Third, now that other members are doubting the sincerity of the original poster, no one has said anything to them (the doubters). Again, I quote you:
A few members started to make unfair accusations in my opinion.
When a topic like this comes up, instead of having members jump on the "troll-bandwagon", I'd rather see members that are knowledgeable within the respective field, post and offer help and insight in order to bring knowledge and clarity to the thread in question

You made these comments after Piet said
I'm thinking it's all a hoax...
Now people are saying the same thing, and no one has told them that they are making unfair accusations!

Now, because I'm afraid to start an argument with an Administrator (and I'm only half kidding here), I'm going to shutup -- unless someone wants to carry on this particular conversation (I have much more to say about the anti-tr*ll comments found in this thread) in a more appropriate forum!

I now return you to your regularly schedule program: "Waiting For djkls6 To Reply".

jmp,

Please re-read what was actually said..

Rob,
Has stated numerous times, please provide "Facts" when posting here at CACC esp. when something may appear out of order. I believe "almost" everyone here at CAC was putting their best foot forward to help unravel this mystery of the LS6. As a matter of FACT a few of the "Big Guns" from NCRS and Corvette Knowlegable people participated to help get the facts and to help a fellow member.

As for the "Primer" factory delivered 1981..

Bob Williams (Nut) has provided the "ORIGINAL" build order. He found it on the top of the gas tank! I have seen it! It has been authenticated by Mike Antonick. I'm sure you know who he is ... but just incase your corvette knowledge is a little lacking.. Mike Publishes the "Corvette Black Book" if you will go to page 77 and I quote: "At least one primer 1981 model has been documented, a St. Louis build, with "SPEC" trim tag.

In search of the truth, sometimes is stranger than fiction I appreciate your skeptisum, but I deplore your attitude!

As this would indicate to me and I would hope other members reading or following along with this thread.. YES there is doubt as to the authenticity of these claims, I think I state that "I appreciate the skeptisum" what I find unbecoming is the apparent attempt to play games with other members or the administrators.. "AH HA... caught one... was hoping for a Nut... but a forum admin will do" That's the Attitude I deplore

Ok, I'm going to say it again, ALL MEMBERS in this thread have a choice: you can either abide by the guidelines established here, or move on.

Since my last post where I asked others to refrain from the troll comments, I haven't been following this thread. Why? Because I try to have a life outside this web site every so often.

Now I'm going to repeat what I said earlier, if you don't have anything constructive to add to this thread, then drop it.

I don't ask for much from any of the members here except to follow the guidelines we have established and whatever few requests the administrators may make from time to time. Since this site is completely free to everyone, I don't think I'm asking for too much.

If you have a problem with the comments being made in a thread, report the post to a moderator. There is no need to post a reply such as this:

Wait, wait, wait, wait!! Where's the outcry? Where's the people defending poor djkls6 from the unconstructive critics?
When Piet said the same thing, he got slammed! Was it because he used the word tr*ll? Or because he goofed on the primer grey vette?

If the members can't refrain from posting this, then maybe I should lock this thread all together.

PICS

Here are some pics that were emailed to me from Darren. I have NOT seen the car.
Enjoy.

Again......

Again

Still another....

The Engine !!

Here it is.....

I have been following the thread and am glad to see that it finally materialized with the vette in question. Whether or not it is authentic it is one nice looking vette and wish it were mine. This is one lucky guy and if it is a late year delivery (and it appears to be) he has a solid gold classic to say the least. Now all you doubting Thomas's should say the word's "I am Sorry!!" and see what we can do to help this guy authenticate the car.

Thanks for the pictures Rick. Although we didn't get the closeups of the numbers that we were all hoping for at least we are one step closer. I see some obvious incorrect items on the engine but that really doesn't mean much. Now if we can get Darren to let you shoot some digitals of the numbers.

Tom

Thanks Tom, My next goal is to go see the car. I'll be on vacation after this Friday untill next year. This should give Darren and I a chance to hook up. I'll have to take a couple of pics of the cars together and have another Florida Shark Attack pic.
Thanks,
Rick

Whoa!!! My good gravy!!

I've been silently following this thread. Geez, what a great looking Vette!!!

Talk about a find . . .

Ron

I'm still a doubting Thomas....

I've watched this thread from the start, in the first post a month and a half ago it was stated that this Vette "sat under a cover for 25 years."

The same day a couple posts later it was stated, " as for the tank sticker......years of sitting in a musty barn ate it."

These statements along with a referance to NY DMV cause me to doubt.

He even went on to say that he has already started to take the motor apart

I don't mean to offend anyone, but......

I've got to say that unless that Vette has already been completely restored...... there is no way that any of these statments could be correct.

LOOK AT THAT VETTE!....... it's in FL, clearly the motor's in it, and it's beautiful! That Vette didn't sit in any musty barn for 25 years.

Furthermore, I'd think if GM were to back door any special Vettes in 1970 they would've slip a couple LS-7's (460hp) through, they had'em..... instead of a 1971 425hp LS-6.

I'll apologize now for exercising my right to my opinion.

Rick

I agree 100 % if that car had been setting in a barn for all these years it sure would not look like that. My friend had a 66 vette that he had in his barn and between the mice and the chickens it was torn to hell. I and everyone I know tried to get that car from him but no go. He was saving it for his son to graduate H.S. by the time his boy got it it wasn't worth the fiberglass it was made from. Too bad. It had sat in his barn for 20 years at least.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge the condition and what it should look like. I have personlly seen a 78 Pace car that sat in a barn, covered, not 3 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, for 14 years. Once it was washed and polished it looked everybit show room new and had 11K original milage on the odometer. I'll wait until others have seen and verified this gem one way or the other before I pass any judgement.

Dale,

I'll be the first in line for a huge piece of humble pie, if and when I'm proved wrong.:puke oh that tastes terrible!:L

It's just that this thread reminds me of the ZR-1 awhile back.

Rick

All I can say is if you cant say anything positive why bother, as for timelines what do they prove, heck if you based my car on a timeline it wouldn't exist either, I also think if posts like this weren't around many wouldn't have anything to reply to so in a sense they humor us.

administrators, why not just personally verify vin's prior to allowing new members this would end all the arguments etc.etc

The point of this thread is that even the owner himself is not sure what he has. Hoax or no hoax, he posted to get some feedback and input if such a car could have ever been built from the factory, and if so, how would he go about proving it.

Now, if I was him and had a chance to read through all these pages of opinions and suggestions, it would inspire even more to get to the root of the issue. Just because that is the beauty of this potential rare and unique find.....is it should not exist. Proving that it does is only going to cause him heartache and frustration because there will still be doubters unless he can basically find the original sales agreement, build sheet, and possibly even interview somebody that had something to do with this car when it was ordered/built.

So, opinions are actually welcome, but flames are not. Since this is such a contested topic, opinions will run strong, and are fine as long as they are not personal attacks on the character of a person vs. the validity of such a machine.

I still have my fingers crossed as well, because I "want to believe" that this could be the real deal.

So where's the beef?

Yes we all want to follow this post...

Some of the pieces of the puzzle do not match!

We will just have to wait & see.

In the meantime, dont guess what the owner has going on... he has to come to us for help & information.. and as CAC members we sould do that... not throw tomatoes!

Vig!
