Anyone tried the X-ram Intake on crossfire?

I want the best of both worlds, more horsepower without replacing the crossfire injection in my 1984.

I read in a previous thread to check out the X-ram intake, www.x-ram.com. I printed off as much as I could and showed it to my friend, who is a shop foreman for a GM dealer and he was suspicious. Even though it all sounded logical to me.

Is there anyone out there that has first hand experience. If so, what other mods did you make?

i have one. it was on the car when i purchased it.

there was a post on another cross-fire forum of a guy who dynoed his 84 before and after the x-ram was installed, with no other major mods. he found a 25hp increase i believe. from about 175 to 200. with a new exhaust i would think hp gain would be even more.

also, they are illegal since there is no egr valve.

The test makes me question, is the money worth it? When I make the exchange from the crappy Can $, shipping costs and so forth. But then again how else am I going to gain 25 hp and still maintain the cross fire engine.

We also have emission testing up here every two years. On the website they say it will still pass. So, do I take the risk?

Since you have it on your vette already do have any personal feelings, and do you know if roller rockers were done at the same time.

I strongly suggest that you check out www.crossfire.webhop.net. Everything you could possibly want to know (and some things you probably don't) about CFI can be found there.

I think you can easily obtain an extra 25hp without exchanging the CFI intake for something else. Personally the stories I've "heard" from X-Ram swaps haven't convinced me that it's worth it, but that's just my opinion.

i am not positive, but i think roller rockers were installed at the same time since ther original valve covers have been replaced by new chrome ones. ive heard they wont fit under the originals.

i think the fuel distributor psi was also increased at the same time. from 14 to 14.5 or 15.

ive never driven any other corvettes, so x-ram is all i know. i feel its worth it, but i didnt have to pay for it directly or install it.

Hey Bill,

I just found out that my server is too slow to log onto the crossfire websit. My IT guy at my office researched the web address and found out that it is being run from some guys basement and that he keeps moving the actual web page from server to server. So, by the time my server tries to find the page it times out and thinks it doesn't exist.

It is in fact being hosted from a cable modem...probably dynamically assigned IP...but "moving from server to server": not true. Lately he's been having a lot of T-storms that have been causing some trouble...but you should be able to get on.

No provisions for EGR valve...or anything else.....sounds like a great idea.....but I can't use it.....although quite a few have.....due to the strick smog Nazi's out here.....
So I will do my best to upgrade, and still stay legal...
What about you??????
Probably runs cleaner than 80% of auto's out there...

Hey Tony,

The emission controls up here are a pain in the butt, but there no where as bad as California. There is no visual inspection you just have to met the min. numbers.

So, I'm not too concerned about not using the EGR as long as it meets the min. emission standards.

Have you done any mods to your crossfire yet?
