last month i baselined my current combo several times at our local track. best timeslip read:

13.16 at 103.79 w 1.76 60ft

since then i had some problems with my car that resulted in the replacing of the MAF sensor. that set me back about a month. so after i fixed the car, i installed the crank pulley and went back down to the strip today. weather conditions were nearly identical. only one major thing differed between my 13.16 run and todays passes... i ran on street tires this time, when last month i was on DRs. dont ask, its a long story.

anyway, even with limited traction i was still managing to 60ft halfway decent. so while my E/Ts werent availible for comparison, my mph (the TRUE indicator of a power increase) was. i only got 2 runs in this morning:

13.94 at 104.37 w 2.29 60ft

and

13.22 at 104.73 w 1.86 60ft

so, as you can see with the solid increase in mph, i gained about 10hp from the crank pulley. if i had my DRs on at the time, and 60 footing where i normally do, i believe i could have pulled off a 12 sec pass at 105mph. oh well, theres always next week.

bottom line though... the crank pulley is a legit mod

I have a stock crank pully and have considered getting the smaller one for performance reasons.

Did you just do the crank pully or the crank & alternator pully? Also how do your volts look at night with the lights, stereo and the a/c on? I know its not summer but I would like to know how the volts look from this modification.

I could use an extra 10 hp at the crank!

*EDIT* Where did you get the crank pully from?

did you throw away the bad maf sensor? If not, i'de like to buy it from you.

i dont know what brand of pulley this is... i bought it used. i think all of them are about the same anyway... most are about 22% underdrive.

im only using a crank pulley, no alt or water pump pulleys. charging is not really an issue... the volts get a bit low during idle, but as soon as you get moving everythings fine. the lowest ive seen on the digital display is 12.4 volts.

actually, yes i still do have the bad MAF. if youre interested, send me a PM

I have the crank & alternator set in my LT1 (Mr Gasket) and no problem at idle with everything on including a LOT of sound equipment. You should give it a try!

tpivette89,

Thanks for the info, I wanted to know about your test since the other thread because I did the pulleys change at the same time I did the long headers and MSD ignition system. I'm really curious about your new times with the DRs!

See ya!

George

crank pulley times

Hey, TPI vette what other mods do you have on the L98? I just got an 88 and have it running good and would like to start kicking it a little at a time. Did the under drive crank pulley have any deleterious effects on the temp. I know its winter here in NJ but it will get warm here again (I hope). I have been checking out all the mods that mad mic has and they look good. Thanks for any help and info you can provide.

Best regards,
Gerry

thanks for the info. I got one priced out of summit by ASP and it is $52 so I went ahead and ordered one. I dont think i'll have a voltage issue since my car idles higher than stock at 800rpms.

i think i'm gonna have to do this myself :) anything to crack a 12 second pass :)

BTW Tony i am running mid to high 103 mph runs now and even cracked off 104.65 mph pass. i just gotta get it all right in one shot! but i think the longtube headers, afpr, and a fresh set of cutback delco's will put me in the 12's. i just wanna run a 12.7-12.8 then it's time for the cam/heads/intake goodies :D

DOOOOO YOU SMELLLLLLLL WHAT THE MAD MAN IS COOKEN? :D pfsssh pfssssh
