Has anyone here had an Optispark go by natural causes in
a month?

Is it really common for these to bad right out of the box? My supplier says it happens. Is GM's quality really this bad?

Mine new one just went--1 month, 1500 miles. No oil or antifreeze or any contaminant, just a bad high resolution signal,
and only after the car is warm(190 F) .

Wish I had never replace mine--it was fine, had the car apart and I thought it a good idea to replace opti& pump and save the labor.

Haven't heard of it being a common problem.

The original OptiSparks in the first '92 were heat sensitive - causing the circuits to open and the motor to die. Normally, an OptiSpark replacement will last a lot longer than 1 month and 1500 miles (unless it gets water in it).

I'm thinking that you received a defective one.
