Hi all. My first post other then my introduction. Anyways, my vette had been sitting for 10 years and then was driven for about 4-5 sparingly. I beleive it was never detailed. All I know is the Halo panels and most of the interior has a grimey oil like texture and are absolutley filthy. Is there any special solvent that will not hurt the saddle tan interior? Other then months of elbow grease?|
Thanks,
Dillon

I found the magic eraser an invaluable tool for cleaning my interior leather doors. Try an inconspicious area first just to be safe.

Yep that is the one. I tried so many things to clean the years of grime on the leather doors and that worked great.

Great idea!

And, in between massive cleanings, I use Vynol (from the makers of Lexol) to clean vinyl parts. Seems to work well with a soft cloth and a toothbrush.

Both are extremely great. My halo panels were black with grime. Now one looks brand new. thanks again!:D

I've had great luck with Simple Green and I used OxyClean on my M3 and it did a superb job. I don't recommend the magic eraser because it is basically a sanding compound and can tear up leather if not used sparingly.

I had the same thing on my rear deck, that oily gunk. For the plastic trim and vinyl pieces, I used Dow Scrubbing Bubbles (yep, the ones for the bathtub) and a scrub brush. I then used a wet rag to wipe it off. Always worked nicely for me and 10+ years later I've never noticed any degradation to either the plastic or the vinyl.

Welcome to the :CAC

Mine had been sitting since '99 and had some wicked grime on the entire interior. We used Westleys Bleech White on a rag and it worked incredibly well. I followed that with some leather conditioner, and it looks like new!
